Before You Play

Main article: Player Information

So you've read all the really important information and have created a character, and maybe you're curious about the rest of it! Well, this page will tell you some other stuff you can read if you feel like it. Knowing these extra details about the game will make your game experience easier and probably more enjoyable.

  • Get acquainted with the Terminology of the land. Know the basics (gollies, halfsies, etc) so you can understand the rest of the wiki. If you like, look over the Tek Lexicon as well.
  • If you want to roleplay with magic, you must know the theory behind how it works - and not just any generic roleplay magic! Magic in the Vitan world takes a little getting used to. I suggest a thorough read-through of the main magic page and also reading through the Spell Directory and Spoke's Almanac to get a clear picture of what is possible. Remember: magic isn't perfect, and there are lots of unexplored areas.
  • Read the whole Religion section of the wiki to understand the spiritual side of Vita. This page will give you a pretty good sense of how superstitious and devout the mainstream population of Anaxas is. Also, the article on timekeeping is important.
  • I suggest reading the Geography page to acquaint yourself with the lay of the land. There are individual pages for major cities as well as outlying towns and villages. Additionally, there is a short description of every kingdom, and maps so you can get a visual idea of the land. Within the main roleplay areas, there are lots of individual roleplay spots for you to choose from; you can copy and paste these descriptions into your roleplay threads or chats.
  • Check out the Bestiary for a guide to the fauna of Vita. Learn which animals can be ridden, which can be eaten, and which can be cuddled and named George.
  • If you like celebrating, take a trip to the Holidays section to find out which holidays are coming up.
  • Organizations lists a lot of groups your character might want to belong to. Check it out!
  • The Culture page lists a lot of cultural information about Vita - songs, famous books, myths and legends, etc.
  • The Information page lists a lot of miscellaneous information about things like Vitan vegetation, diseases, astronomy, language, etc.

Reading every single article isn't necessary - there's a lot of information! You'll learn most of it as you go. But it's important to grasp the feel of the game before you start playing.
