Backstory:

Amani grew up in a small nomadic caravan in Mugroba, and was raised a dancer by her mother. She grew limber and quite flexible but always felt restless. Her older brother was training as a warrior and she eventually persuaded him to teach her what he knew. She had a surprising aptitude for sword fighting, and when the head of their village saw this he personally began training her. She soon surpassed him and when they moved into the city she ran away, intent on becoming a professional fighter.

She fought her way to recognition and she was taken up as an apprentice to a master who recognized her potential. Suuk taught her every type of combat; hand to hand, knife fighting, how to shoot a bow and wield 3 different kinds of swords. Amani worked harder during these years than she’d ever worked in her life, studying the sword in the day and getting educated on the magic at night. She lived as a mercenary with Suuk. During their time together she became his lover, and when he was killed Amani fled the city she lived in to another. At 21, she lived day to day, fighting to win bets so she would have enough money to eat at night.

The man who formed the dragoons found her at one of these, and asked her to join. She went willingly, and soon became the Diamond Dragoon. For three years she lived like a queen, doing whatever she desired. The people she killed didn’t plague her conscience and she formed a close friendship with the other dragoons. When the dragoons fell, Amani left once again—this time leaving Mugroba behind altogether.

She made a living in Anaxas as a dancer and a fighter, traveling from city to city as the jobs required. She did some assassin work, but found it dull and soon left the field—killing her employer as she did.

She’s recently traveled back to Old Rose, finding her interest caught by the man who called himself Silas Hawke, and the new types of weapons that Pirates were carrying—guns.

Personality:

Easily bored, passionate and brutally honest, Amani lets the wind carry her where it will. She has no conscience when it comes to killing people because she has no initiative—if she was ordered to kill, she killed—if she wasn’t, she couldn’t care less. She thought of herself as a tool, and never bothered to place responsibility of others deaths on herself. Because of these qualities many think she is cold, but that wouldn’t fully encompass her character. Death isn’t an ending to her, but the next path—this makes her a deadly fighter as she cares little for her own well being in terms of death.

In terms of her race, she’s apathetic towards it. She treats all those with a low intelligence with equal disdain—whether Galdori, Passive, Wick, or Human. Although the years have mellowed her out, her temper still manages to bear it’s teeth when someone particularly annoys her. Employment, in fact, is one of the only things that keeps her life in order, as boredom tends to lead her to bars and dangerous sports. She’s very good at following orders and rarely messes up once she has something to do…the problem is finding something to do. Witty, sarcastic, and severe, the curved swords at her hips aren’t the only thing that warn people that she isn’t someone to be messed with.

Description:

Dark skinned with purple-blue eyes and an enchanting smile, Amani is as beguiling as any woman is although she has a broader nose than most. She’s learned to use her body as an asset in her fighting as well as her dancing. Because of her daily training exercises, she is very strong, though she’s got little scars all over her body and a long one from her knee to the middle of her thigh. Her dark wiry hair is her one vanity, and she keeps it long and piled high when she is out in the daylight, but when fighting or going on a mission she secures a helmet over it. She lets it down only when dancing and sleeping. When fighting she tends to grin in a rather unnerving way. Her skin isn’t smooth, but full of calluses and scrapes.

Note: Although Amani is a very good fighter, she can be beaten. She’s nimble, but often being a woman betrays her—if she’s not as strong as her opponent, she might lose. Wrestling is her weakness, and when she’s without weapons she would rather run than stick around. That being said, it’s very difficult to get Amani’s weapons away from her.
