Bio:
Born in Thul Ka, Umbida grew up in Onzur’s Bazaar. Her mother and father ran a grocery store, which is now in the hands of her older brother. Possessing higher ambition than her sibling, Umbida sought to enroll in Thul’Amat. She failed the Telling several times. While she worked at a coffeehouse between tests, she overheard so much from the students and amati that she became convinced she could acquire a free education simply by standing in their midst.
Twenty years later, Umbida now runs a prospering coffee shop of her own. Creatively named “Umbida’s Coffee House,” the shop is on the bridge between Deja Point and Hluun, directly in the path of students and amati on their school commute. The shop has become an established meeting place, exactly as planned. However, she did not plan for it to take this long, and she worries her best years are behind her.
To make ends meet, Umbida is not above a little smuggling. She has underworld contacts, and the back room has been the site of countless shady deals--some of them even for a good cause.
Personality:
Umbida likes to surround herself with people who are smarter and more creative than her. Failing that, nearly anyone will do. Umbida is easily bored and frequently lonely. She likes to see herself as a patron of the arts, and is very generous to artists and intellectuals. At the same time, Umbida laments not being as rich as her cousin Bogale, who owns an island.
Goals:
In the hustle and bustle of running the shop, Umbida rarely has a chance to plan for the future. The last expansion to the shop--the courtyard--was rather expensive, and she’s still paying it off. Her family still pesters her to find a husband before it’s too late, though they’ve almost given up hope.

Stout and plump, Umbida is short for a human. Her dark brown eyes are unusually round, giving her face a friendly, childlike demeanor. Always fashionable, Umbida wears the latest in clothing and hair styles.
