!!!Backstory:

Nevinia is the eldest of two children, born to Russel, a profressor of Physical Magic (who has since moved onto research) and Morgan, a banker's daughter from Vienda. The Greymoors moved to Muffey in favor of Brunnhold shortly before their second child, Tristaanian, was born two years later. Nia was a very physical child. When she wasn't scraping her knees or wrestling with her brother, she was discovering new ways to get dirty or test her endurance. The two children were quite close, and it was all her parents could do to keep her from being a complete tomboy.

Relatively speaking, Nia had a typical galdori childhood, though as she grew older towards testing time, it had become clear that the girl was doted on, perhaps even favored to the point of over-spoiling, by both her parents over her brother. Strangely enough, the girl did not hoard her favor over Tristaan so much as make attempts to share the privilege. The Greymoors went to great measures to protect their daughter from their suspicions that Tristaan was a passive.

Nevinia 's tenth birthday was celebrated with a joyous affair that included a lavish party, and upon passing her test to Brunnhold with an acceptable, average 5, her parents happily sent her off to school.

A few months later, just as the girl was settling into student life and beginning to make friends, she received word from home that her brother was dead. Not ill or hurt, but dead. So desperate were her parents to confirm their suspicions about their son that they willingly spent the money and took the risk to have him tested early. Upon his failure, Morgan convinced her husband to abandon him and declare him dead instead of face the social shame of parenting a passive.

Nia was crushed. She numbly stumbled through the first few years of her schooling, with her second year, the year Tristaan would've joined her at Brunnhold, was perhaps the girl's most difficult year. She scraped by, withdrawing from friends and spending more time alone than anything else. She also began to suspect her parents had something to do with her brother's death and stopped going home. By her fifth year, she hardly spoke to them, and though she had recovered from her grief, Nevinia was still a quiet, aloof girl who preferred sports and outdoors activities to chan ceremonies and dances and picnics.

Upon graduation, Nia went straight into the Seventen. She had few friends, fewer suitors, and decent grades. Before her initiation, she moved home for a few months. It was then, in a moment of guilt, Russel shared with her the truth about Tristaan without his wife's consent. It'd been so long, admitted her father, that the boy may very well be dead anyway. Furious, confused, and hurt that her parents had chosen to abandon her brother instead of at least have the decency to send him to work in Brunnhold where she could see him, Nevinia left home and never looked back.

It was too much for young woman to deal with and she threw herself into her training, rising the ranks and becoming a respected, skilled, if not slightly unpredictable, member of the Seventen.


!!!Personality:

Where Nevinia was once vibrant, mischievous, and warm, she's since become quiet, reserved, and witty. Still very much a tomboy and still a caring, open person, all of Nia's personality seems to have been tempered and washed over with a tangible sense of loss and a deep ache of mistrust and betrayal. Her hurt often manifests itself in her subtle temper, her sense of dangerous urgency in combat, and her intolerance of lying and deception.

Buried in her heart is still a nurturing girl who misses her family, including her brother regardless of his race—very much. It's all just made less painful by time and effort, and Nia still knows how to laugh and smile.


!!!Physical Description:

Nevinia is tall and wirey for her gender, with a few more boyish angles than feminine curves. With full lips and long, lush eyelashes, she could never be mistaken for a boy, but it could be said she could stand to fill out a little bit where it 'counts.' She has a strong jawline, high cheekbones, and a cute, upturned nose that all seem to come together into an attractive combination that is best highlighted when Nia bothers to smile. Her wavy black hair is cropped to her chin, and it is thick and full and shines with a bluish undertone in the sunlight. Her large, almond-shaped eyes are gray with a hint of gold around the pupil and her skin is fair and freckles when she's spent too much time in the sun.

If she were to stand with her family and her brother, their relation would be terribly obvious, but she would clearly be an inch or two taller than Tristaan.

When not in uniform, Nia prefers more utilitarian than impressive outfits. She's not opposed to skirts or dresses and doesn't have an abhorrence to dressing up for the right occasions. Unlike her spoiled, flamboyant childhood, she's much more reserved in her choices of clothing and adornment as an adult.

My only complaint is that if you play her, there's never a faraway soap opera style reunion, unless somone takes over the character temporarily! Oh noes!
