Post Corner of Brink and Harrison, very early Intas 5 (Triar)
Fion had barely made it in time. She'd had to run after finishing work at the dead of night. Usually a cart went past looking for new recruits but the rest of the time she could usually count on someone being around.

Fion huffed and then proclaimed, loudly, "Oh what I wouldn't do for a cool glass of water. I'm so parched I could kill a man for his water skin."

She leant against a nearby wall, tired, grieving, cranky as hell. In her current mind-state she was a little worried that she might kill Vahl before giving him time to say his peace.

She was a very angry mother.

Post Re: Corner of Brink and Harrison, very early Intas 5 (Triar)
It just so happened, that on Intas the 5th, Triar Vahl himself was wandering towards the corner of Brink and Harrison, ironically, reaching for his own waterskin.

He saw and heard Fion, remembered her from their brief meeting days ago, recognized that she was a friend of Emme, and also felt his heart sink.

Ehh.. I suppose I'll have to explain this whole situation.

With a sigh, he approached Fion from the side opposite she was facing, and held out his waterskin to her, "Here."

Whenever she would turn around, she would find his face looking very tired, lines of stress etched upon him, and eyes full of knowing too much.

Fion turned and saw Triar's haunted eyes, saw the fatigue and the stress.

She'd had a very bad day, she interpreted it as guilt.

Fion slapped his hand away. Her eyes burning and heart hurting like it had been flogged. She had seen sweet girls disappear before, either gone with no trace or taken by someone bigger, meaner.

"You know that's code," She said with a low voice, not designed to carry in the wind, "Nice to see you again, friend."

"I'm a storyteller, Mr Vahl and yet I feel you have some stories for me. Is there anywhere we can march to so you can tell them?" She kept her voice professional, keeping her anger but not her tiredness out of it.

Her dagger was strapped to her arm tonight.

He should have figured he'd be in trouble. It didn't surprise him very much that the Resistance kept every single member in the know... and with such a ragtag team of idealistic crusaders, he doubted such a thing was possible.

For all Fion knew, he'd just as likely took Emme off into some corner and gutted her as hid her away to safety.

In fact, she probably did. In a town this bad, who would really think otherwise?

"Anywhere you'd like." He said, his tone low in the same way as Fion's, so that his voice wouldn't carry. "You'd like this talk. You choose a safe place." He hoped that, in her choosing the location, she would feel more at ease, that he was not going to attempt to ambush her or anything.

"I can tell you here, though, that she's safe. But let's go. I'll tell you anything you want to know."

Fion pointed at a nearby alley. The buildings on either side were factories, no one would be in them at night. She walked towards the alley, still angry that Triar could be so brazen about Emme's disappearance. She remembered Hania crying and it was enough to strengthen her resolve.

"Where is Emme?" She hissed when they were in the alley, "Everyone thinks she's been carted off by the seventen. There's folks wanting blood over it. Her family thinks she's as good as dead!"

"What did you do with her?"

Vahl sighed heavily, running a hand through his brown, spiky hair. It only figured that the resistance wouldn't have told anyone where she'd went, even her own friends and family.

"I got some orders from Pierre herself." He said very quietly, letting the name drop sink in a little, "Emme is someone very important. More than most would think... and the gollys might have wanted to try something. I was asked to take her into protective custody. She's safe now, at one of our safehouses."

He regarded her, letting out another sigh, "I wouldn't hurt her. For anything." He seemed very tired in that moment.

"I can only assume that you've not heard anything because of them keeping things quiet. You can assure her family that she's alright, if that's what you need to do."

He closed his eyes for a moment, honestly seeming a little haunted. When he opened them, they were full of the resolve that the Freedom Fighters usually carried.

"I'm very sorry if what I was asked to do worried you.. worried everyone. But I'd much rather not see another person die. Not on my watch. Not her." The last was said with some force.

Fion laughed, a little high and hysteric.

"Safe, with Alyssa Pierre?" Her hands shook and the laugh ended with a thin cry, "She's Serro's number two. If he thought he'd get a riot against the gollies started by stringing Emme up in Crosstown Court, he would. He did about the same three years ago, even if no one can prove it."

"I don't know... y-you didn't..." She was so tired after the day she'd had, she didn't want to say just what she'd thought had happened to Emme, "But this might be worse."

Fion leant against the nearest wall, then slid down it, til her hands were on her knees and she could slip no further.

"Need an informant? I think I'm going to need you." Fion said after a shaky pause.

Triar leaned back against the opposite wall himself, running a hand through his spiked out hair, his head hanging low, and many of them getting into his eyes. It seemed a severely awkward silence would be between the pair forever, and that just seemed to be how it needed to be.

Vahl didn't even know if he did the right thing, spiriting Emme away like that, on orders, but it was all he could do.

"..I think we might be needing each other. We all are going to need each other, especially if this continues to escalate..."

There was a tone in his own voice that kept him as tired sounding as she did, having had wrestled with his conscience for a few days now.

He only hoped that he was doing the right thing, and wasn't being lied to by the people he believed he could trust.

Fion nodded.

"...Yeah." She said belatedly, tongue sticking to the roof of her mouth.

"Can I see her?" She asked, "Her granny is worried about her."

Fion looked at Triar balefully.
