Hellow everyone. Im learning too read and write. Its difficult but Ill learn. A very very naice old wohman is teaching me. Shes Floretta Hatter and shes got red hair and mackes pots in Uptown Vienda. Shes been halping me inna lot of other ways too she lets me sleep in her kitechen were its warm so I dont hav to slep with aly cats animor. Her stov is meatal and not stone like ours it is very modern. Vienda is very modern. They hav factorys an machines an streets an lamps an lots ov other things I cant find the end ov it.

Florettas very kind. Like u Aunt Pertha. But shes ah human and shes old. Shes verry whise to. Shes teaching me this. I know there was not books an u wanted too teach me Uncle Andrew. But Ill send thes leters so ull no wat Iam doing an so u can teech Marchus an Anthony an Hilda an Lizzy wen she gets old enough. They will hav these words to reed.

I hav been doing fine now that Floretta has helpd me. Im not s cold but I still get hungry an i dont tell her cus I no shel giv som t me. But I dont want her to do that cus shes alredy doing so much. Ive ben working many difrent jobs n th day an work in a cloth factory at night. Its good work. A difrent kind ov work from th farm and I am learning that to. The houres r long but Im fine. I earn plenty, thats y I can sned you s much money home. Im runing out ov ink so I cant say any more.

Dear Every one.

Floretta read my preveus letter and nerly made me revis the hole dam thing. Shes very piky aboot teeching me 2 spell and she's one hell ov a stikler. I suppos I shuddn't complane tho, she's been nice enough so far, but i wonder wen she'll boot me out. I kno she probbobly will. I do work for her during th day and work in the factory at nite, but shurely she'll tire ov me. After all, I made a big mistake wen I came to the front of th shop during work houres. There was a golly woman their an I was so surprizd that I dropd a big pot. I kno shes in Uptown an she sells to em a lot an I dot kno y I didt expekt t see one. Im shure a lugger and i dont blam her if she tosses me out soon. She's been too kind already

I hope that your all ok an I wish you all well. I know Hilda's birthday is comming soon so I sent extra mony. I hope its enuff for that red dres she saw in that Virthmore stor. I saw her admirin it one year

Turns owt I can stay with Floretta for a wile lonnger. I taked too her aboot leeving but she woud hav non ov et. She sed I wus staying here an that wus finnal. I no I've ben wating a few monts to reelly actally rite somthing, but there reelly hasn't ben much to say. Sorrey. Things hav ben un eventfull. I'm stil working n a factory, tho not the sam one as befor. I got fired from that one.

There wus this golly overseer type an he wuldn't stop yellen at this kid just cus he had one hand an was a little slower. He hit the kid and before I knew it Id hit the golly. Wish u were there Marcus u coulda helpd. Don't be woried aunt Pertha. This golly had a field the size ov a newborn wicks an I don't think he could spell magick. I wus just fired. That's all. But ther are plenty factorys in Vienda an I think it'll take a wile befor I hav th chanc too get fired frum all a them. You hav to bee carful with that. Human workers are easy to com by an if they think you're working too slow or youre sick they'll fire you (like culling a bad sheep) and just find someone else to replace you. There are
always more willing workers. This also seems to hapen if you
hit a golly overeer.

I'm now working at a machin parts
factory. I've gotten a bit
bigger lately and they
have me working
th bellows while others
forge some parts. Its rathr boring
at times an my back hurts after
a long time
of it.
But I'll be fine.

Deer Every one. I am pretty fine. The factories aren't beating me up as much as they hav been in th past cause I think Im growing again. My cloths have become far to tight and Im now faced with the problems ov bying larger clothing. My shirt is specally tight as my chest an shoulders have gottn much wider. I think Im even taller now. If you think I stuck out in th farmlands, you should see me in th factory. There ent many big farmboys around in th city, so I cn look over th heads a nearly everone else. It's prutty nice, though I get steared at a bit. Its nice that people often give me a wide berth, to. I don't like being overcrowded.

Marchus, I got yer letter. Floretta read it to an she says that your spelling his horrible and your penmenship is awful but she tells you t keep writing. She's got it in her head that yer some kind of sweet person, but I know you were lying about McPhearson's daughter an I laughed. Has she slaped you lately? I'm shure you could use it.

Don't worry Aunt Pertha, I haven't hit anyone important resently. There are, how ever, quite a few street thugs in th city. They seem t think that big meens slow an stupid an its kinda funny how often I get jumped. Ive got a new scar on the back of my head where one of them got me with a bottle.

But enough about my dull happenings. I've seet a little more extra as I got a raise because I can lift more and work longer.
