Well, they'd gone and done it. They'd shut down the Kingsway Post. Jus' as well, Annie thought to herself. What wit' that godsdamned golly editor in charge, ent no way news of any consequence was gettin' printed. Then again, it meant she most surely didn't have a job now. All the work she'd done collecting information on the killings happening in Vienda now seemed wasted.

It was late, and she stood across the street from the uninhabited offices of the Kingsway Post, glaring at the empty windows. She'd show them news, alright. The side entrance was never locked propperly; Annie hadn't had any problem jimmying the lock and getting inside. Once there, finding a box, a small typewriter and a large stack of blank paper was easy. It wasn't long before she was back outside the city, sitting before the fire outside the family kint, typing away. Yes, she'd show them news. An' they won' know wot hit 'em, neither!

BODY COUNT RISING IN HATCHER KILLER MYSTERY!
Authorities Baffled as to Murderer's True Identity

In a shocking turn of events that could only have been known to the gods, recent killings attributed to a wandering hatcher loose in Vienda have been discovered to be deliberate attacks at the hands of one or more people. These violent acts have only been commited at night, the bodies left in plain sight to be discovered the next morning. Thus far, the authorities haven't been able to discover the source of these horrific murders, choosing instead to shield the information from public knowledge and dispelling the rumors being spread as false and borderline illegal. Any attempts to obtain information through normal channels of communication have been viewed as obstructions of justice and met with threats of fines or imprisonment. It also appears most local funeral homes and mortuaries have been instructed not to cooperate with members of the press; most conversations were abruptly ended once it was established they would go on record with the free press.

This reporter, however, managed to find one member of the undertaking occupation who was willing to cooperate. Miss Olivie Ahsby, sole owner and opperator of the Ashby Family Funeral Parlour in Vienda gave a few moments of her time to talk to the press. When asked about the killings, she mentioned they seemed to be happening more and more frequently. Victims are mostly younger, with no specific racial type; Miss Ashby noted that the murderer preyed on both human and galdor alike, stating "Whoever is doing this just doesn't seem to care." The damage to the bodies themselves seemed to cause her some distress. "They've been ravaged," she commented. "As if somebody tore them to shreds. At first I couldn't believe it, but I discovered that none of the deaths had been caused by wild animals of any sort." Proof of her discoveries were shown to this reporter; images and descriptions are far too graphic for print.

For all their tries, the Seventen can't seem to get ahead of the viscious monster prowling the streets of Vienda at night. He kills without mercy or prejudice, almost taking pleasure in the pain he causes. His actions are bloody yet methodical; the way the victims' bodies are left on the streets implies the killer's twisted feeling of pride in his nightmarish work.

"There is only one kind of person capable of these atrocities," Miss Ashby added resolutely. "A monster. A sick and violent monster who finds pleasure in his evil actions. There is no place in this world for creatures like him. He needs to be stopped before he kills again."
