 Asgar Sawaar
'''Name:''' Asgar Sawaar '''Age:''' 23 '''Race:''' wick '''Place of Origin:''' Anaxas – probably Old Rose Harbor
!!!Backstory:
Asgar´s first memories are of Old Rose Harbor, but it´s questionable if this is the place he was actually born in, since he never knew who his parents were. The only thing he ever heard about them were numerous rumours about who they supposedly were and where they were said to be at various times. Also there had been quite a few times that someone said that they were dead; only to have someone say that they had been seen somewhere a few weeks later.
For most of his childhood, Asgar lived among a band of wick thieves, who actually all lived like one big family. Once they were old enough [which wasn´t very old] the older, more experienced thieves started teaching the children the fine art of stealing. Everyone stole and at the end of each ´shift´ the ´earnings´ were gathered and put together. When they needed supplies, a few went out to buy them with the money form the ´fund´. Also the ones with good haggling skills were sent to sell the stolen goods for money to add to the fund.
Asgar learned quite quickly and was a good thief even as a child, but still got caught and punished quite a few times. Fortunately for him, his hands were never damaged in the process of punishment. This was important, since he started showing great interest in art and painting when he was about 15. Also he displayed quite a talent for it, practicing with stolen painting supplies when he could get them and they weren´t worth enough to go through the trouble of selling them.
Not wanting to earn his living with being a thief [not because of moral issues, but because of the fact that painting was a safer way to earn money] Asgar left the ´family´ at 19 and started travelling. He didn´t give up stealing completely, since he didn´t have the money to get what he needed for painting or food sometimes. He started with a sketchbook and some coal, making sketches, and selling them for just enough to make some money for food. Not enough to really feed him for long though, so the stealing stayed a constant companion to art when it came to earning money.
With time and practice, Asgar learned to also usepaints on canvas. The first works with paint were, as would be expected, nothing special or rather, to be honest, quite bad. But with some patience and practice, he improved until his paintings were good enough to earn him money. This was good for him, of course, since paintings can earn one larger sums of money than sketches. At first the paintings were mostly of nature and buildings and such, but with time Asgar started to try himself at portraits and found that he was good at those too, maybe even better than with his previous motives. It probably had something to do with the fact, that when he was painting the world around him, he just couldn´t help himself not to pour some of what he felt while watching it, into the paintings. With portraits, he just had to figure out how people wanted to look like in them [younger, more mature, more handsome, prettier…].
Once he started painting portraits, Asgar mostly stuck to selling those, though he still paints pictures of the surroundings, though mostly for himself, since he has come to realize that they usually give away more about him than he´s comfortable with. Though there are few who really notice, since the hints are often just subtle; maybe softer edges, slightly different shadows, a different hue – things that give the paintings a slightly different look that´s a result of his feelings.
Mostly the portraits nowadays earn him enough money to live off of it temporarily, but not always. Thus he sometimes still resorts to stealing, especially when he needs new supplies or has to buy canvases. He steals more rarely than he did when he was child, which lowers the likelihood of him getting caught at it, but he has also brushed the stealing skills up a bit since then to help avoid that unpleasant possibility.
Since he started his travels, Asgar has mostly been travelling alone, only occasionally having company for a part of this or that trip. But since about a month and a half, he has had a constant travelling companion. In the city he had been staying at that time, he was asked to do a portrait of the wife of some rather wealthy man and offered to either get paid money or choose a wolf from the litter one of the man´s she wolves had recently had [he was a breeder]. Even though it would probably have made more sense to take the money, something about the pups appealed to Asgar enough to decide on one of the little fur-balls as payment. The pup is still rather small, so Asgar mostly carries him around in one of the pockets of his coat for now.
!!!Personality:
Asgar is quite the sarcastic person and likes to make witty remarks at times, even though those sometimes seem insulting to others or end up being a bit darker than intended. Like most artists, he´s also quite a vain person and rather self-loving; nothing too surprising about that. A practical quality of his is, that he´s actually able to stay calm when it´s best suited for the situation. Though that doesn’t mean, that he´s always calm – sometimes and with some subjects, he can be quick to explode into a fury. A quality that´s helped Asgar quite a bit in the past, is that once he figures out what appeals to a certain person or a group of people, he can convincingly act in that way, even though it´s actually completely fake and an opposite of what he is and what he believes in. However, he only uses this when he feels that it will gain him enough to be worth the effort that has to be put into it.
He rarely shows his true, deep feelings and rather opts for pretending to be much shallower than he really is. Flashing a bit of vanity is often enough to make people believe the act. Deep inside he´s actually quite lonely, which was quite possibly one of the reasons that led him to take the pup as payment and not the money. What he does love and also shows it, is for his works to be appreciated. Someone dismissing his works as completely average or saying they´re bad is one of the things that can send him into a fury quite easily. Another thing about Asgar is, that he can often be quite flirty, even though it´s mostly just for the hell of it and not for real interest. Or it does come from interest, but that is often fuelled by the loneliness that he doesn´t enjoy at all.
One more thing that should be noted is that Asgar sometimes makes a double bluff. For instance, if someone does notice the hints in the paintings that indicate a deeper person, he will say that he just made the paintings that way so that people won´t realize how shallow he really is.
!!!Physical Description:
Asgar is quite tall [due to the Gioran blood] and is lean of built. His slender, lithe frame is quite useful for a thief, since he can push through narrow openings when on the run. Though the height makes it a bit more difficult, it´s practical when jumping and climbing fences or low walls. He has some muscle, but is far from being bulky. His hands are lean with long, slender fingers – quite characteristic for artists.
High and quite strongly defined cheekbones give Asgar´s face a somewhat sharp, angular quality, though the full lips tone down the effect somewhat. The nose is straight and not overly long, ever so slightly tilted up at the tip. Usually the slightly pointed chin is hidden by a short, carefully trimmed beard.
His hair is vibrant red in colour, slightly wavy and reaches to his shoulders. There are a few braids in it with beads [black, green and blue] woven into them along with a few colourful feather and three or four little, round, silver coloured charms.
The eyes are a stark contrast to the hair with their emerald colour that reminds one of the eyes of a cat. Under the influence of the Anaxi genes the shape leans slightly towards almond. The eyebrows are a darker red, more auburn and finely arched.
His pale skin almost borders on albino with it´s milky white tone and is smooth without any freckles or other distinguishing marks.
Mostly Asgar wears the colours beige, black and green, though he doesn´t limit himself to that. However, he does try to avoid clothes that clash with his hair. The pants are usually well fitting and disappear into a pair of knee-high boots. He has a fancy for shirts with broad sleeves with narrow cuffs, but only owns two since they´re quite impractical. When he´s working the sleeves are always rolled up since they tend to get in the way otherwise. Occasionally Asgar will wear a rather tight west over a shirt with broad sleeves, since he likes the contrast it produces. Almost always when travelling and outside [if it´s not too hot] he wears a long coat with many pockets [quite a few hidden ones] that are ideal for carrying and hiding things in them. At present Varg is occupying either the left or the right big side pocket of the coat. Also he owns a hat with broad rims under which he can hide his vibrant hair and make himself less noticed. Not to mention storing things in the secret compartment in it.
Having quite the fancy for shiny things, Asgar wears quite some jewellery. Four earrings ´occupy´ his left ear. First there is a rather long earring consisting of a few blue feathers with black and emerald specks; next is a small silver loop; it´s followed by a small emerald bud; the last one is another, even smaller silver loop [both loops fit the earlobe quite snugly]. Around his right wrists, Asgar has numerous thin leather bands with a little round silver charm with a simple motive of a labyrinth hanging from one of them. The other wrist has a broad leather band around it and three bracelets made of coloured beads [red, black, blue and green]. A leather band is wrapped around his neck several times and also has charm on it, same as the one on his wrist only slightly bigger. His fingers are adorned with several rings: on the right hand one can find a slightly broader, plain, silver band around his thumb and silver woven one on his middle finger; while on the left hand there is a silver ring with an emerald coloured stone on his ring finger and one with a ruby coloured stone on his forefinger. Depending on the situation Asgar will either say that all the silver and both stones are just fakes, while on other, he will brag that they´re all real. It´s hard to say what´s true, since you can never be sure with a thief.
A part of his usual attire is also quite a big beige bag with strips of green and blue that he has slung over one shoulder.
!!!Inventory:
Weapons: - a dagger - a few throwing knives
Stuff: * painter supplies [paints, brushes, sketchbook, coal etc. – he usually buys the canvases when he needs them and he settles down somewhere] *a hat with broad rims *some clothes [a few shirts and pants, etc.] * a bander wolf pup - Varg [given as payment for a very good portrait he did]
!!!Career
He´s a painter for the most time and a thief on the side when the painting doesn´t earn him enough.
*a very good painter *quite some thieving skills *can also sing and dance, but doesn´t use those skills to earn money *has a fair aim with throwing knives
!!!Goals
Asgar doesn´t really have any definite long term goals at present. Though maybe sometime, if he manages to earn enough money, it wouldn´t be bad to settle down somewhere and open an atelier. Also earning enough money to be able to get by without having to steal would be quite nice. Maybe if it ever gets that far he will start to consider finding a companion for life [a non furry one that is].
