!!!Backstory:

Ivan's father was a prominent member of the remaining Viendan crime family in the late 80's and 90's of the 27th century, and his mother was a whore his father had married before the trade had sapped her youth. Not fully aware until around puberty the full influence of his family (as 4th in line to the throne of crime in Vienda), Ivan was often puzzled by the strange respect he received from others as a proxy to his father. While initially naive, Ivan was bright, and was particularly interested in puzzles, logic and medicine. He studied to be a doctor, but at this time the Seventen were beginning a targeted attack on the remaining families in Vienda. Fearing for his son, Ivan's father sent him into the army and away from entanglement in the rapidly worsening situation, which bonds of duty prevented him from avoiding. So Ivan trained as a battlefield surgeon, and was stationed in Mugroba. There, he saw an incredible thing - a galdori healing specialists acting as a nurse and anaesthetist, working on wounded and sick humans. In Anaxas this would be unheard of, as the precious offensive skills of the galdori meant their attention could not be wasted on wounded humans, and the entire Anaxas medical corps were trained to only use human medicine on the human wounded. Ivan was assigned to this mugrobi medic, a girl a couple of years younger. They were lovers for a time, until orders dictated Ivan was to be redeployed back at Anaxas. He asked her to come with him, but she chose to stay and continue her training for a full doctorate, and with that they parted.

Ivan was miserable back in Anaxas, his solitude sharpened by the culture shock of the oppressive atmosphere of his home country. This made it all too easy to drift, and drift he did, out of the army and into the "Bad Brothers" at Old Rose harbour. Using some connections his father had in the old families, now broken up and assimilated into the larger crime syndicate at Old Rose, he skipped the initiation years and worked as a mid level member. His duties were at first to patch up injured members who wanted to avoid the official questioning they would receive at a hospital, and occasionally he was commissioned to send codified messages, but as time went on, he found his medical knowledge had a more directly valuable application: opiates.
He became the main acquirer, tester and high level distributor of opiates for the whole of Old Rose Harbour, and became very rich, for a human.

During one large opium transport operation, his group were attacked by the Seventen, and he was hit with the runoff of a fierce level 3 perception horror spell while getting away. He escaped physically unscathed, but the spell was an entirely traumatic experience leaving deep emotional scars. His personality changed that day, and he felt that he could no longer operate for the mafia while suffering the shell shock. As a parting gift, Silas Hawke gave him a two chamber pistol. Spending the most of his accumulated wealth, Ivan moved back home to Vienda to start a medical practice. Once established Ivan was approached by an old war buddy who had also quit the army, and was now a recruiter for the resistance. Remembering that Ivan had a talent for code and cryptography, he was initiated as a semi-active resistance member, working on the coding of resistance messages and passively gathering information.
His practice is often used for small scale resistance meetings where confidentiality is crucial, and plans to move his practice to the stacks someday soon to help the human population and gather more intelligence there.

!!!Personality:

A bit closed, good liar, though can be prone to flashbacks or emotional tremors relating to his incident. Intelligent, perceptive, cynical, but not sour. Believes people can be good, but is also a firm realist, owing to his fairly extensive experience of the dark side of humanity, and of mortality and loss. He has mixed feelings about the galdori - he doesn't hate them as a race, but he hates the ruling class of Anaxas. He hopes that by helping the resistance he can in some way be avenged for the trauma inflicted on him.

He, like many other humans in the medical profession, has a mild inferiority complex. This is because, no matter how studious or dedicated a doctor he is, he will never wield the power to heal or take away pain like the galdori can, nor muster the millimetre precision that control of the mona and training at the Brunhold grant them.

!!!Physical Description:

5"10, thin but physically strong. It has been many years since the army training but their mark is not yet gone. His skin is fairly pale, wrinkled and furrowed by worry and thought before it's time. He has brown dreadlocks, tied back. These were grown during his time as a gangster, and he keeps them as a reminder. His hairline is showing early signs of receding, and he is clean shaven.
A tired look which is almost contemplative in nature is his default expression, which can hide the intensity of his thoughts or feelings.

I understand completely if a fair amount has to be changed - I did get a growing dread as I was writing that I was presuming quite a bit of history with this guy, but at the same time I'm interested in playing someone with some past, some stories and some years behind him.

Also, if Dom wants credit for the lvl 3 perceptive spell, that'd be a cool link. Anyway, here he is, I hope you like him!

I like the sheet! I was a bit worried in parts (especially about the galdori healing humans in Mugroba - it's not THAT egalitarian, but perhaps it was a special case), but overall it's well-written and researched.

The only problem is here - "This feeling persists even though his medical ability significantly surpasses the average galdori doctor, who are known to rely often too much on their magic, and so often delegate surgery to human doctors."

The best surgeons are almost exclusively galdori, who have a significant advantage (having control of the mona, as well as blood flow, temperature, etc) and are highly skilled. Humans just don't get the kind of training that galdori do, even in the field of battle. There's a whole school at Brunnhold dedicated to surgery. Galdori surgeons have to know every inch of the human body to manipulate it with magic. There's no way a galdor would let a human surgeon work in place of a galdor, and galdori don't usually operate on humans (unless they're sympathizers like Khymarah). It's a trust issue but also, there just aren't any schools for human doctors, except in the army.

So.. if you could re-write that one line, I can approve this sheet.

Cool, no worries. I changed it so that there's only one mugrobi medic girl, and that he feels inferior for lack of paranormal skills and superior training.
