The day before, Horace had agreed with Laur that they would meet in the library during their free period. They would study different subjects, but each others presence was wanted. Laur had brought the idea up, but Horace immediately agreed. No objections on his part.

Horace quickly walked past Rosie Opkins, avoiding eye contact at all cost. She scared him, he never understood why. She just did. Walking past the isles and isles of books, finding his favorite table. It was near both the History and Static section. Laur was already sitting at the table when he arrived. That was Laur, always punctual.

He broadly grinned, placing his books on the table. He bowed before sitting, the respectful thing to do. "Hello, Laur. How are you today? Are you ready to study?" Knowing Laur, she was ready to study. She was one of the smartest people Horace had ever met. He hoped to be on her level when he was a final former.

"You're being redundant. Hello, Horace. I suppose you are?" Laur was flanked by the everpresent large schoolbag, open to reveal notebooks and pencils and other such things.

Her planner was on the desk--she had forgotten to put it away, which would've been a better idea, considering on the visible page were large letters in red pen, proclaiming LOSHIS 24, STUDY WITH HORACE, 18 OC SHARP. DO NOT BE LATE. NO EXCUSES. encircled many times. Other, less-important items had been squished to the sides, such as "go see professors for late work--may fail otherwise" and "go to infirmary for checkup to ensure you don't have anything else wrong with you following duel." She did not appear to actually know her planner was embarrassing.

She appeared to have already collected the necessary literature--most of it was science, but there were a fair number of history books among them. "Remind me never to be absent again. I've got far too much to catch up on. Nevertheless, if you need help with anything, you're welcome to bother me."

She was in her uniform, since it was the middle of a school day, and her hair was twisted up in a bun so none would fall in her eyes. That was the only problem with long hair--it was so cumbersome some days. She had her little violet reading glasses on as well. Very studious-looking, she imagined, but not particularly attractive. Oh well.

Vincent did not know why he bothered to come all the way out to the library, as he was fine with studying on his own in his room on such a messy day like this. But he was already almost there, so it was too late to change his mind on the matter. As was the effect that came with him, he had crowds of students part as he strode through the bustling campus. Most were eager to just get out of the way.

The towering albino harrumphed irritably as he swept into the library. He hated the rain that he constantly had to walk through at this time of year. He flipped open his pocket watch as he glided through the rows of shelves. He was on time, more or less. It snapped close with a audible click just as Horace and a girl who he vaguely recognized came into view out of the folds of mountains of books. He spotted a table just beyond them where he could hole up by himself.

He gave a politely curt nod in recognition as he passed the occupied table, already placing a large hand on his bag to deposit it along with its laden contents on one of two vacant chairs that he was going to settle into in a few moments. He continued to walk past.

Horace smiled at Laur, taking out a history textbook in the process. It was as heavy as a chrove; Horace's arms were trembling. The book hit the table with a thump and was opened.

He read some chapters about the old headmasters of the university and then about some of the first kings and queens of Anaxas, basic history. It turned out to be a slow day. Horace didn't have to ask Laur any questions and Laur never needed to ask questions, she was a genius. Horace was going to doze off.

Despite Horace's fluttering eyes, he noticed Vincent walk past. His head shot up, it was like his erse was being stabbed by chrive horns. "Vince!" He exclaimed. "How are you my boy?" He almost grabbed the Gior's wrist, but he restrained himself. That was too rude, he even knew that.

He stood up quickly, remembering he was shorter than the Giorian. "Why don't you sit with us? We have plenty of room. I want to introduce you to my friend, Laur." He said all this while bowing, he sounded a bit muffled.

Laur looked up from the book she was absorbed in, and, suddenly, there was tall. REALLY tall. Was this student taller than Horace? Would Horace get this tall (since the boy was clearly older than him?) Oh, gods. She certainly wouldn't say anything about it, but she did look rather shocked.

"Erm, hello. I'm Laur Almond. Nice to...meet you?"

Gods, he was tall.
