 Lillianni Torblut
'''Name:''' Lillianni Torblut
'''Age:''' 23
'''Race:''' galdori
'''Place of Origin:''' Anaxas

!!!Backstory

Lillianni wes born blind to two average Anaxi galdori with average talents and very high social status. Her parents were surprised by her oddly colored eyes and blindness. Worried that she would have other handicaps- specifically magically- her parents had held her back inside the house and raised her quietly until she was old enough to take the initiation test- albeit a private one.

Her parents were relieved more about their own social status being secured than their daughter passing. Lillanni had been home schooled in order to learn on a seperate curriculum than the rest of the Brunnhold magic students, made specifically for her 'needs'. She had excelled in scrying, and would often use it to eavesdrop onto her parent's conversations during dinner parties when she was supposed to be in bed out of boredom. She began to create her own perverted ideas about the world through this, piecing together butchered conversations from a makeshift scrying medium.

All she heard was gossip about problems, and often all the wrong combinations of words would reach her ears. Some sounded pleasing, and others would be viewed as wrong while she saw it right; one such conversation giving her the idea to run away to Old Rose Harbor. What came across was a mix of comparing ORH with another Bastian city, which no doubt made it seem to her like "a horribly romantic city... rich... lovely place to live, I've heard..." Or something along those lines. Ever since that conversation she built up this false image, and refused to believe anything when anyone told her otherwise.

!!!Personality

Lillianni is quiet; such that the area often has to be silent to hear her whisper of a voice. She doesn't mind waiting to voice her opinion, as long as she's in a good mood- which she almost always is. Sometimes she's been known to shout and throw a bit of a tantrum as she had little experience with not having her way. She's horribly stubborn.

Because she can not see, she tends to not judge others by appearance, but rather by their fields. Those with larger magical fields she treats with more respect as an equal, but those with less or no magical energies she prefers not to socialize with. She has no definite sense of morals, as she had little direct with other people throughout most of her life asides from her servants. As she was raised only around galdori, she is naturally curious about humans and wicks, despite her prejudices.

She is easily lead due to her little experience with the outside world. She would believe anything anyone said unless she herself refuses to believe otherwise. Her childlike, unsuspecting stare will make any guilty man feel uneasy, despite that she can't really see them.

Lillianni smiles almost constantly and is wholly dependent on those around her, though she 'tests her surroundings' once in a while. She is honest, especially to her superiors, unless warned or she gets a bad feeling from surrounding fields. She straight out cannot hold grudges. She finds it to difficult to stay angry at any one person, though she may act out against them should she feel the need to. She doesn't understand jokes much; her smile may become uneasy or she may act uncomfortable with the person telling them. She has almost no sense of humor despite her cheery personality, though she tries to copy jokes she's heard before to lighten the conversation. The only reason people laugh is because she butchered the original joke terribly.

!!!Physical Description

Lillianni is about 5'6" tall, with porclean skin and long black hair that falls in smooth curls over her shoulders. She has delicate features and large eyes. Her overall body composition is small and slightly rounded. She is beautiful in an old fashioned way.

Lillianni gets dressed with the help of her 2 servants. She is very conservative. Her dresser normally clothes her in semi-elaborate white and midnight blue dresses with silver jewelry. For her to wear sapphires is the norm.

Her eyes are a deep blue with sliver flecks in them. She scryes with her eyes open out of habit, though she has scryed with her eyes closed before when asked.
!!!Inventory

Weapons:
*A small bone knife she keeps in her skirts. The handle is silver and has a single sapphire on it.

Stuff:
*Random silver jewelry, also with sapphires on them.
*Deuchesne- Her own cat. It is a tuxedo cat with blue eyes. It follows her around most places.

!!!Career

Seer
*Ability to Scry without visual tools. She is very talented at this. She has also begun to develop a slight knack for reading fields.
*She trusts as easily as she is trusted.
*She is really good at cooking. As long as she knows where everything is in the kitchen, she can cook a great meal.

!!!Goals

She just wants to have a close family of friends and improve her field-reading.

Post Re: Lillianni Torblut
Hey Lillianni, thanks for your patience.

Since we've already talked over cPM on chat, I decided I should go ahead and post edits on your sheet now that the mods have discussed it. Here's a list of some things to change and consider; if you have any questions, don't hesitate to PM a mod or find us on chat.

1. While her parents may have been disappointed or slightly shamed by having a blind child, considering she did not grow up to be a passive, they would most likely recognize that Lillianni would still have a chance of becoming a functional member of galdori society. She may even be able to attend school with some assistance, specifically of servants. If her parents were somehow ashamed, it would be best to work this into her backstory and come up with a reason for them to keep her at home with tutors. Perhaps they were concerned about the competitive nature of Brunnhold or they just didn't want to worry about her welfare. Perhaps they really did resent her and didn't want her to be seen outside the home. Either way, she wouldn't necessarily be as ostracized as you've implied if she could prove herself competent in magic and willing to stand up for herself in the face of opposition.

Reading monite would be a challenge because Lillianni is blind, but learning magic is not impossible if she is patient. There is a spoken language and perhaps the purpose of having tutors and studying at home would be to maximize her time spent learning. However, graduating early is a little unrealistic, considering her disability. Also, galdori magic is not entirely based on academics. As galdori age, their physical ability to channel and interact with the mona grows and improves. This is why children do not have fields until they are 10 and why students of a young age are not taught advanced magic. The body's ability to handle advanced magic changes over time.

2. While you're reworking your backstory, we'd like to suggest that you take out your character's history with the Bad Brothers entirely. It's policy for new players to role play joining Thorns organizations such as the Resistance, the SPE, and the Bad Brothers. This is generally an enjoyable experience that's best played out in-game instead of assumed, as it would build up your character's foundation and give you a beginning goal. If you could instead focus on her family life and what exactly would make a young galdor woman turn to a life of crime in Old Rose in the first place, that would be appreciated. It will be worthwhile to role play working your way up in the ranks of the Bad Brothers, and there is even a scrying modPC for you to interact with once you've been accepted into the "family." :)

3. Considering Lillianni would have servants to help her dress, I have a feeling she would care about how she looked because of galdori social expectations. To maintain one's appearance in society is very important to the galdori and there are ways of arranging her closet or marking her clothing in order for her to match and dress well. This is pretty common with blind people even in our world.

4. Some of her personality is conflicting with her backstory. If you could go back and check that, it would be great. Her personality says she isn't easily angered, and yet it seems as though most of her backstory is filled with anger and resentment about her treatment by her family. Depending on how you rework her backstory, you should definitely consider tweaking her personality in this way.

5. While we enjoy and encourage original characters here on Thorns, we do have some restrictions about appearance and some rules about how the mona works. There is no real "sixth sense" in Thorns, but I would say that a blind galdor could conceivably spend time perfecting their ability to read other galdori (and wick) fields to a level of detail beyond sighted galdori. Emotions and the types of mona in a galdori field are probably able to be sensed if Lillianni spent more time practicing and perfecting this skill that is often taken for granted by sighed galdori.

6. Also, the mona would not react physically in her eyes in the way described in her appearance. While she could have blue eyes (not all blind people have cloudy eyes), there would not be swirling metallic flakes in them, not even when she cast. The mona is sentient and tends to have its own agenda. It doesn't manifest itself physically in people's appearances like that, so if you could edit that part out, we'd appreciate it.

7. There is nothing like a literal psychic in Thorns. There are wicks who pretend to be, but the galdori are taught to respect time and have come to believe with relative firmness that the future cannot be determined. Like I said previously, developing magical sense in terms of reading fields is probably the best direction to take Lillianni. In addition to that, you may want to consider pursuing a unique way to scry. We encourage players to develop new or modified spells here on Thorns, especially within the galdori community. For someone who is blind, it could be that she scries by listening to a shell or a goblet and hears sounds or feels things instead of has visions. This is something that could possibly be role-played for the sake of enjoyment and also to help establish some more goals for your character. I think it would be fun, personally.

I know that these are rather extensive edits, but your sheet is well-written and we had a good talk in chat. We look forward to seeing your changes; just remember to post something letting us know when you've finished making them all!

Hey Lillianni :) your edit looks great, thank you!

I had one quick question. Were you planning on starting out in a galdori part of Vienda or Brunnhold and then roleplaying the move to Old Rose? Personally, I think it would be a really interesting move, since we'd get to RP her encountering the culture and the way it varied from her impression, as well as getting her involved with the Bad Brothers (if you're still planning on that).
