!!!Backstory

Cezelia breathed her first sea-soaked breath in Old Rose Harbor, one of many daughters of the Harbor's stationary Yellow Eye faction. Her mother dyed fabrics procured (legally or otherwise) from trader ships, instilling the exotic textiles with bold, saturated colours and unique patterns. Her mother's partner dealt in exotic spells and magical items--Cezelia could not remember whether he had been her father, or if he had been a more recent addition to her family, but it never really mattered. She was always fascinated by the unusual items that passed through his hands. It might have been this specifically that disappointed her most when she learned she had no aptitude for magic.

It was her grandfather, Cezare Minke, who taught her what would become her trade. He had dedicated his life to the mixing of pigments and the art of decorating skin. Seeing much of himself in his granddaughter, he began instructing her in the language of symbolism, artistic composition, and the compounding of inks. By fourteen, she had begun practicing on the shaved backs of her family's mounts and soon on her own thighs. When Cezare passed away, Cezelia, having eagerly learned and practiced all he had to teach, took over his occupation and inherited his shop. Certainly, some hesitated to let a sixteen-year-old girl tattoo them, but her grandfather's influence was evident in her skill, displayed playfully when she hiked up her robes to reveal the many intricate patterns on her heavily tattooed legs.

Cezelia, ever the entrepreneur, often traded her skill to merchants and traders in harbor for exotic goods. Small amounts of spices, foreign pigments for dyes and inks, anything interesting and available (legal or otherwise) was acceptable for trade. At eighteen, a gent of questionable character traded her a small amount of opium for services rendered on his arm. It was just the magic her parse self had been searching for. It would seem that she had developed a small habit, but always one to consider how she might get ahead, she began to sell and re-trade some of her "profits." Now the go-to tattooist for drug smugglers and less reputable traders, Cezelia also deals what she likes to call "exotic magic."

!!!Personality

Cezelia is intense. Detail-oriented and highly focused, she is used to spending hours at a time regarding tiny puncture wounds and carefully rubbing ink into them. Although typically quiet so as not to distract herself, she has quite an attitude on her. This can sometimes get her into trouble on the streets, but her fast-, sweet-talking can often get her right back out. She's tough to swindle and shrewd in business. Not to say she cannot be swayed with something shiny or pretty...

There is, however, a wistful side to her, which can come through in times spent with her family or when she finds herself intoxicated. Some speculate that her lack of magical ability bothers her, but her mother and sisters will click their tongues and tell you its her lack of a lover.

!!!Physical Description

Despite her typical wick roots, Cezelia has worked hard to make herself look exotic. Her olive skin is covered almost entirely by tattoos--the colourful chest and back pieces of her grandfather, along with her own elaborate, scrolling patterns and text. Her black hair is streaked violet and tipped red, piled atop her head and surrounded by an array of tiny braids tied with strips of bold fabrics and traded pins. The rich colours of her robes are hand-dyed and embroidered by her textile-trading family, cleverly hiding the fact that her figure is quite lacking on the top but well-endowed on the bottom. The gold earrings she typically hangs quite proudly from her ears are meant to bring out the green in her almond-shaped hazel eyes, and she often rouges her cheeks and nose to cover a dense patch of freckles that has embarrassed her since childhood. Her palms and fingers are usually heavily stained with ink, one of the few reasons she never pursued tattooing past the tops of her hands.

She dreams of one day being capable of magic, although she knows this is illogical. More realistically, she strives for excellence in all things she considers "magical" --specifically art and love.
