 Your Neighborhood Just Got Friendlier...
So! Idea time! Some of the ThornsChat regulars and myself cooked up a great idea that might just work in Thornsverse:
Of course when you have populations of oppressed peoples, you're going to have groups that form to weather out rough times, even if those rough times last for centuries, I'm not really suggesting guilds, per say, but I am suggesting close-knit groups that have cropped up--not only in small towns but in separate districts of cities—that exists to help out the fellow man. Groups that contribute to those within their own group who've fallen on harder times.
And example is in sharp order.
Let’s say Mr. Brown, the only parent of his little girl, Sally, and he's currently down with pneumonia. He can't work, and if he can't work, he can't put food on the table. Instead of asking a friend to take care of all this, those in his group can contribute here and there. One providing breakfast, while another helps out with lunch, another dinner, and several more pitching in money for medicine.
A group would help out with stuff like that. The meetings could also be seen as a time to just gather and talk, come together, and relieve stress.
Humans being naturally the group-oriented types would naturally fall into this, I believe (unless, of course, it's against an individual's personal beliefs/preferences). So it's a plausible idea.
What are your thoughts? Ideas? Complaints? Shoes? I want to hear from you guys on this.

so not really the cobblers guild or the farriers guild ect...more of a Town Social Commity? Sounds like a plausable idea, however, I'm not sure the galdori would look on it favorably. A group of humans having meetings...i can see the suspicion now, especially after the chaos in the prison. But the idea is definitly someting to think about. Lets see what the others have to say.

I think it sounds like a fun idea! Maybe they'd have to be careful not to arouse suspicion, but it could most def work. And, if perhaps they do get raided or something, they can guilt-freely say 'We've done nothing illegal! Have a glass of water and a muffin on your way out the door!'
I'm down.

With the current political climate, they'd probably get arrested even without evidence.
That is the sort of thing I can see humans doing informally. Maybe they wouldn't have formal meetings but there'd be a definite network going on. I remember what it was like living in a small town, the sense of community meant that if something bad happened to someone, everyone would know. Then along would come a bunch of casserols.
I'm not sure about big meetings with the gaol break having just finished but the idea definitely has a lot of merit.
