Transferring Posts

Why is this forum read-only? We are currently transferring all active posts to the new forum. Come into chat or email me (cartographette@gmail.com) if you have any questions. If you'd like to volunteer to help, we could use your assistance!

Welcome to the Character Journals section! This is where you can create an IC journal for each of your PCs, and post your character's letters to other PCs and NPCs. This forum is In Character, so all OOC comments need to be in OOC format.

Please only make one journal per character, and specify in your thread title or your first post if OOC comments are allowed. For letters to other PCs or NPCs, you can make a new thread (you don't have to post them in your journal). Reply letters should be posted in the same thread.

Post Letter to Laur
Dear Laureline Hamis 3rd

I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am sorry about my abrupt leaving on the 1st; my parents had called me off to Hox immediately. They think it might be best for me to experience my ancestor’s culture during a vast change in my life. I turn 17 today; actually I turned 17 at nine o’clock this morning. It’s a bit funny though, whenever I had a birthday, someone would ask me if I felt any different. My usual answer was, of course, no; but now I do actually feel different. Being in Hox has opened my mind to philosophies I would have never thought about back home.

Stoicism has significantly captured my mind. I’ve only been here for about a day, but my distant cousin has showed me several reasons why the galdori and humans alike embrace it. I have learned that anger is not always the best solution; I am going to try and practice this as soon as possible. I’ve never been more excited to become angry.

Oh and one more announcement before my mother calls me down for tea. My family is relocating to Frecks. They are going to arrange for themselves to move here as soon as possible, though they are still going to let me stay and attend Brunnhold, I will be moving here after I graduate.

I hope all is well with you. Tell me the going ons of the university in the letter you send me.

Sincerely,

Horace Aquila

Post Re: Letter to Laur
(( This letter is written in a fine and careful cursive hand on good paper, inside a precisely addressed envelope that is slightly battered from its international journey to Hox. It most likely arrived far later than the date postmarked, indicating it was rather difficult to get airmail out at the time. ))

Dear Horace,

Thank you for notifying me of your departure to Hox, as I had not previously known. For the past few days I have been wondering where you've gotten off to. I hope your birthday went well; I offer my congratulations on your seventeenth birthday, in any case. Are the teachers sending you work or are you doing it all when you get back? If they won't mail it to you, I certainly can. That long an absence fortells mountains of work when you get back. Tell me, how is Hox? I am afraid I have never been outside of the country of Anaxas. I am not well-traveled, sadly, though other countries of this world have always held great intrigue for me. If you write back, please attempt to describe Hox; I would dearly love to at least be able to imagine it. Perhaps I'll go someday. I do have extremely distant heritage from that area.

Things have been rather slow here; no real new developments since you left, I'm sorry to say. I still have not had a rematch duel with the Siordanti boy. Perhaps he's given up. Speaking of, if such a thing happens again, it would be best that you not step onto the playing grounds until you are sure the duel has ended: for example, if the opponent has left the scene and cannot be located. Before then could possibly cause one of us to brail or backlash, or you might otherwise be hurt. Most likely I would brail, since if I was casting I would endeavour to stop if someone walked in front of me. I cannot say the same for Siordanti.
I do hope that you return soon, or at least the weeks will go by faster for me. I must admit I'm terribly lonely. The people at the back of class are not very entertaining, you see, although Angus and I have become chummy, somewhat. You know, it's actually been a month since we met; isn't that odd?

We'll have to keep correspondence if you leave for Hox after graduation, though I know that's much farther off for you than it is for me. I plan to stay in Brunnhold after graduation; I believe I will be pursuing a teaching career, so it is essential that I remain in the university, you see. Perhaps you'll come visit.

Regards,
L.D. Almond

Dear Laur,

I have started writing my headers like you. I feel it gives my letters a sense of meaning, the way I wrote them before seemed like a human wrote them; I’m ashamed. I just received your letter this morning and I need to write this reply quick, mother wants me down for supper at 24 o’clock and right now it is 23:46. I will not have time after supper or tomorrow to continue the letter since I must pack. That’s right, I am returning home. But before I come home, my father and I want to take a detour and go to the Cartographer’s Convention. We have officially decided we have fallen for Hox and we want maps of it and what better place to buy maps than the Cartographer’s Convention.

Now here’s my plea: I was wondering if you would like to meet me at the conference. I haven’t seen you in a while and I think it would be rather refreshing to meet off campus grounds. I will most likely be arriving in Plugit on the tenth. It would be wonderful if we could meet that day, but I know that it might be hard to schedule a carriage out of the city so quickly. I know this letter will probably get to you on the ninth, but please, if you can make it to Plugit before I return to Brunnhold; it would be great.

Sincerely,
Horace Aquila
