(L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
Aurelie left the library in a hurry after making sure Mr. Luccullis could find his way to the infirmary. Triston had just hit him and stormed off; Aurelie was worried she might do or had already done something she would regret later. At the very least she needed to try and convince her not to be a part of these horrible experiments any longer!
She got to the door and was about to go in but something stopped her. What if... What if she hated her, too? After all, she hadn't exactly rushed to Moore's defence. (Not that she was very likely to. Experimenting! On her bunkmate!) So instead of just walking in, she knocked, hesitantly.

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
"It was your room first, just come in." Triston called from her bunk, knowing only two people who would nock on the door, and one of them was likely covered in baby vomit at the moment.
She turned back to her previous position, which was face down on the pillow, arms limp at her sides. Triston's anger was fading, but not gone completely, and she vowed to hold onto every last morsol by going over campion's words in her head over and over again.

"Yes, but it's ours now," Aurelie said as she opened the door. "I- I didn't want to intrude." The door clicked shut behind her. She still felt hesitant, awkward somehow. "Triston, uhm..." The girl was still angry, she could tell.
"Are... are you okay?" Aurelie asked in a sort of forced cheer.

"I just punched a galdor in the face, so no, I do not think I am ok...And I hope neither is he." She turned over and faced the water stained ceiling, too upset to count the cracks.
"He had no right to insult Professor Moore, who is probably the nicest man on vita. Especially with accusations based on nothing but rumors!"

Aurelie bit her lip again. "Mr. Luccullis will be fine, I think..." What was she going to say? She wanted to talk to Triston about her concerns over these experiments, but at the same time she was worried of offending her new friend (and if she was being completely honest of being punched in the jaw).
"But... you did say for yourself there were... experiments," Aurelie crossed to Triston's trunk, "didn't you?"

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
Triston turned over again, this time to face Aurelie. "The experiments are harmless, used to map ley line frequencies or something. It was like getting acupuncture." She'd never actually had acupuncture but it did look similar.
Maneuvering awkwardly, she managed to hold out her arms for her friend to see. There were no scars or cuts, or anything to imply that they had at one point been covered in tiny needles. "The pins are really really small, and they're used to read our magic level thingys. I've only been in one experiment so far, and it was just a test. Its not like Professor Moore is randomly electrocuting passives in the name of science."

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
Aurelie looked sceptically at her bunkmate's arms. They did seem to be whole and unblemished. In fact if they compared it would probably be Aurelie who looked like she'd gone through brutal torture in the name of science. Still, she remained unconvinced. Just because it hadn't happened yet, didn't mean it would never happen in the future.
"Just what are these, these ley-lines and the mapping thereof supposed to prove, anyway? What is this all about?"

Triston shrugged, tocks if she knew. "I think he's trying to find where the magic is blocked, or something. He tried to explain it before, but I admit I kinda zoned out after a while. The way he goes on about it, though, you'd think it were the most interesting stuff in the world."

Aurelie mulled this over. One the one hand, Triston certainly seemed unharmed and the experiments seemed harmless enough. On the other hand, the professor was still a golly and gollies were-- "Wait, is he trying to... to cure you? Us?"

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
Triston mulled the question over. She wanted some way to explain how Harper felt about passives, without making it sound like he was just some sympathiser. The fact that he was actually doing something about it might have revealed that he wasn't one already, but she wasn't sure Aurelie would see it that way. Ever since the test, and the dinner that followed, Harper had, in a way, been protecting passives beyond the call of a scientist. Professor Moore could easily have sold the information uncovered, earning his reputation back in the process, but he hadn't.
If that wasn't enough to earn him some trust, Triston didn't know what would.
She looked at Aurelie, wondering if her new friend herself could be trusted with such information. The more people who new about something, the more likely it would get found out. It was hard enough for three people to keep a secret as it was.
"Yes, he's searching for a cure. He and Professor Devlin." Triston didn't mention the passive fields, but if Aurelie ended up pushing her for more information, she might end up spilling the beans.

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
A cure? Somewhere in her heart, this unsettled Aurelie. She wasn't sure why. It was good, probably. A cure would give passives control of their diableries, indeed would possibly eliminate them all together! It would not, however, make anything that had been done prior to the cure right. She would still have lived here as an invisible slave for most of her life. To Aurelie, becoming fully galdori wasn't what she thought was important. What she wanted, more than anything, was to be treated like a person. To be able to leave these walls, get married, have a family. Like normal people. Humans didn't have any magic, and no one stopped them from breeding. This line of thinking was making her a little angry, so she tried to turn away from it.
"Why would testing your ley lines help? I don't understand."

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
Triston shrugged once again, it wasn't like she could remembered what Harper had told her. Ten times.
"Ley lines are like...Veins I guess, but for magic. He was checking the frequency, and it turns out passives actually have something like a field, but its kinda there and kinda not." She had suddenly let the cat out of the bag, and was fervently praying it didn't scratch her. Triston was a bit too trusting for someone in her situation, but she doubted Aurelie understood the null field syndrome stuff any more then herself.

Re: (L8, passive quarters) Lions and Lambs (Triston)
"A field?" Aurelie was taken aback. They had a field? How? She had to admit, the research was intriguing. Not, however, that she approved of it being done on her bunkmate in any way, shape or form.
"Do you... do you want to be cured?" To most passives, this question was probably a resounding 'yes', but Aurelie honestly could not fathom wanting that. All she wanted to was to lead a quiet life-- settle down with someone nice, have a child or two, and cook for people who would appreciate her enough to pay her, or at least who loved her. Magical powers never figured in to her dreams and aspirations.
