Ten years ago in a Mugroba already plagued with disease a corrupt official formed a personal squad of vicious soldiers. Each handpicked for their various talents and formed officially as a peacekeeping squad they became some of the most feared individuals for a span three years. They were the dragoons. Led by a man seeking only wealth they performed some the most grizzly massacres in recent memory.

Twelve men and women formed this black hearted squad. Amongst them the madman Alstair Murdoh. Ruthless in the extreme they were the cause of several villages demise. The first being Zan in which they were deployed to kill the unborn bastard child of their leader. Each dragoon that first night received a mask designed specifically for them and them alone. These masks also were colored according to their code names. The following list is the order in which the dragoons were ranked in command starting with the highest ranking member and ending with the lowest ranked.

The Crimson Dragoon-master of pain and perception
The Azure Dragoon- master of change and transmutation
The Golden Dragoon- master of earth and minerals
The Emerald Dragoon- master of plants and living things
The Sapphire Dragoon- master of waters and the flow
The Diamond Dragoon- master of arms and armors
The Red Dragoon- knight of the berserk, bringer of rage.
The Blue Dragoon- knight of the false, teller of lies.
The White Dragoon- knight of the cold,the standard bearer.
The Black Dragoon- Knight of the fires, the spear bearer.
The Violet Dragoon- knight of the hunt, the tracker

These twelve titles reflect their bearers unique abilities. Each Dragoon wielded a different weapon and focused upon different aspects of magic. The one thread that linked them was their skill. Over time though they grew to be close allies and a trusted fraternity. This trust was that of brothers in arms and was nigh unbreakable.

Their downfall came when one of their own turned upon the hand that had pulled their strings. After suffering a grievous injury the Black Dragoon Alstair Murdoh and declared that it was time for them to once more walk the light. His once allies shunned their seemingly mad friend and left him to his own devices. Shortly after their former commander was found dead a spear ran through him and charred to crisp upon the site which they first massacred.

Over the next seven years the dragoons spread themselves to the winds. The remaining eleven renounced their brother the black dragoon and when asked of their past called themselves peace keepers during those turbulent times.

In the beginning you say

and then you say they were peacekeepers for 3 years. But then you say at the end of three years, they began dispersing over the next ten.

So technically shouldn't that first "ten years ago in mugroba" actually be 13 years ago?

Only the titles are rolled up. Characters themselves I'm leaving to you guys. Also, angel that was poorly worded. It all started ten years ago. Seven have passed since they dispersed.

Rank is not so much a position based around power as it was rather based upon a dragoons rank within the military and how well they were liked by the Commander. As such though all around the same power and skill many mistake the higher rank for incredible power when in reality some of the lowest ranked members carried incredible power equal to the rest.
