!!!Backstory:

With the history expected of a rather boorish and plain girl, Dylann Duboisnes merits only one conclusion is drawn – she would have been better off a wick. With parents who were, like most, well off and well established in society, Dylann offered little promise to her blond, blue-eyed parents. Despite being their only daughter and youngest child, the moments of her childhood seemed to be, by consensus, better off forgotten. With their attention focused on her older sister, Primara, her parents allowed most of her upbringing to their servants – something Dylann is now thankful for.

Her mother, Yulia, was rarely able to offer a nice word to her daughter, mostly owing to this one fact; Dylann wanted to travel rather than study. Even in the tender youth, the girl had already managed to be obstinate, determined and unyielding against the idea of becoming a highly-ranked politician or even part of the Seventen like her parents. She was, of course, nothing like her parents. Offering trouble more than joy, Dylann would spend most her days running across the yard and hiding in whatever forest she could – her love of nature was unmistakable, even in her most hysterical of moments.

And, as a final act of defiance, she would make sure to impart her horrid nature on whatever party she was forced into attending. With this, an exceptional talent for ruining dinner parties blossomed until she was eventually allowed to remain in her room. Riddick, her father, saw to it she still maintained some kind of decorum with those outside her family, but it was unmistakable that she, as a young girl, was going to either break or flourish within the strict schooling of Brunnhold.
Luckily, this hope was eventually realized.

After spending a few years at the institute, she started to recognize that, because of her stubborn and boorish behavior, she was clearly ignored and despised by some of the other students who wished to be politicians and businessmen and women… whereas she only wanted to travel, to see the world. Though she had spent most of her youth ignoring manners and politeness, the girl had an aptitude for exhibiting such social practices.

With this, she was able to act as though she had changed, her general demeanor much more refined and carefully constructed to give the illusion of propriety her family had wanted for so long. At the end of her schooling career, she managed to abscond with a decent grade and a level of understanding of magic, albeit as basic as possible. Her true interest was still, as it had been for almost 20 years, travel.

Establishing herself in society much the same way everyone else did, she was provided a carefully selected and highly prestigious role as an overseer of sorts within her father’s company, begrudgingly handed to her by her family – her sister had chosen to become a mother and stay at home, much in the same way her own mother had. With this, Dylann only just began to appreciate the amount of work and discipline she had skipped on during her youth, trying her hardest to remain above it all. Appointing a few other galdori men and women to run the small book-publishing business, she began to work toward realizing her actual dream.

At first, she settled for small day trips from the town out into the open – her magic almost enough to keep her safe. On rare occasions she would return home, bloodied and wounded, though it was never that hard to fix. Soon the day trips started to become days, up to weeks here and there… until she absconded once more with her pet Kenser, Dutters, not to return for a few years – she maintained communications with her business, only half-listening to the ‘polite requests’ for her to return.

Dylann proceeded to slip into the most abnormal of situations, trying to skip from her hometown and her career as her father’s next-in-line. But, of course, after a few years of disheartening travels and misused time, she returned back to Vienda, her love of travel quelled by the boring experiences she had found.

Throughout her travels, Dylann has gained somewhat of a miniature treasure trove of items – or, she had, until she sold most of the jewels and relics off to pay for various things like food, money and a new home. She has kept those relics closest to his, such as the small, oddly-shaped rock covered in precious stone, along with a sword adorned with a few different colored stones.

Now, years later, Dylann is out of touch with both family and friends. She’s starting to feel the idealism and outlandish behavior begin to sink, as well as the wasted youth she now looks back on. In this period, the slow, gracing nature of freedom to a stuffy little wife has begun to show, her expectation to get marriage is coupled with the pressure of running a company. Dylann is stuck between giving the idea of travel one more hearty go or sinking into the routine of birth, marriage, death than she found so lamentable in her youth.

!!!Personality:

Dylann is a fallen trickster, left with little more than a scattered sense of self-importance and a smile. Her status could be summed up as a lofty aristocratic woman with too much time on her hands. She tends to seem happy and outgoing, charismatic and approachable at the best of times, while reclusive and moody at the worst. While she is a large businesswoman she cannot, for whatever reason, act accordingly. She would willingly dress down and wander about the streets, entirely aware of what she was doing and where she was going. Easily distracted by that which intrigues her, she can be seen chasing anything she perceives as handsome or beautiful – this may or may not be an item or a being, depending on her state.

With an obvious disregard for normal social practice, she can and will act in ways that, due to her age, will seem out of place or out of sorts… she never fails at confusing and annoying those around him, though never intentionally. With all these traits in mind, Dylann is also what one could describe as absent-minded, with her concerns very rarely branching outside the here and now, especially not to others. She can become overly emotional and empathetic in some situations, especially for young children (regardless of race or gender).

Her values family and well-roundedness, but never really showed the former to her family… she’d like to believe she’ do a better job at raising a family than her own family, even though she turned out alright. She desires something to complete her, make her feel as if she has a purpose… the idea of working forever hardly appeals to her. What does appeal to her is the idea of a husband and kids, hoping they’ll make him a little more calmed and relaxed. She also wants to find something to replace her love of travel, assuming she never travels again.

Dylann relishes combat, loving it more than she can say. In her youth she would duel as much as possible, using any excuse to draw a sword on a rival. This doesn’t mean she was very good, but she did win her fair share of duels. Of course, an emotional confrontation is something she cannot deal with, her idea of feelings and emotions being limited to either ‘happy’ or ‘sad’. she is, of course, a terrible loser. she hates the idea of being bested, but has had years of failures to come to terms with this problem. Now, rather than get angrier, she can simply shrug off the feeling of losing, however, she will hold a grudge against the person quite noticeably.

She possesses a love anything and everything to do with the outdoors – despite her obvious heritage and pale skin, she will probably spend her day staring listlessly out the window, hoping that he’d be allowed out of her stuffy office to go lay under a tree or fiddle with magic. That being said, she hates being indoors and hates stuffy clothing even more. In spite of having the money to afford rather expensive jackets, shirts and otherwise, Dylan dresses in a way that makes her look a small step above a wick. Though, she can clean up very nicely.

Not that she would ever openly admit it, she finds herself – entranced by female and male wicks more often than not… whenever traders come into town, she will probably be one of the first to approach the carts, eyes wide and hopes rather high. She knows a few words of Tek such as ‘macha’ and ‘olio’, but nothing else… for obvious reasons. She tends to try to impress wicks with this knowledge, but it more often than not backfires, with him looking stupider than usual or them spitting something like ‘havakda’ at her. She’s not sure if she could ‘settle’ for a galdori male (or female), mostly because of her wandering eye toward the ‘lesser’ crafters of magic.

Most of her true personality is covered by the professional façade she’s worked on maintaining for years – if anyone who knew the true Dylann could see her in this falsified state of formality, they would probably laugh themselves to death at the sheer irony of it.

!!!Physical Description:

With a rosy look about her, Dylann’s finely pointed features and almond-shaped eyes seem to be out-of-place. Her yellowed skin now a duller shade (nearing that of a beige-pink mixture) than in her youth, she still seems just as outgoing and loud as ever. Her figure is still as exuberant as ever, her shoulders broader than most and her lankiness from childhood now-unnoticeable.

Standing at about 5’ 6”, she tends to feel a little too tall. Along with being too tall, she feels her figure isn’t nearly ‘petite’ enough, with her hips and bosom being fuller than she’d like to admit, though she manages to hide this with tighter shirts underneath loose shirts. She tends to walk with a sense of confidence and pride, however unmerited it may be. She likes to think herself quite appealing to others, but the case is definitely arguable amongst those around her.

Dylann’s hair is a fair brown, barely passing off for that. While her mother was stunningly blond (with the rare colour cropping up in her sister as well) she was cast down a shade that seemed as if brown had tried to colour itself a coppery yellow. It falls rather straight, coming to brush at her chin when not tied back – which it rarely is, unless her servants get a hold of him before she bounds out of the house. her eyes are the typical almond shape, but a deep, sardonic blue that barely passes for that – in some lights, they seem black, and in others, the blue truly does shine though.

They’re often narrowed and crassly hidden behind a furrowed brow whilst she works, scouring bills and notes and requests. Whilst she’s not working, they possess an airy charm, never seeming transfixed on anything in particular. She’s never afraid to maintain eye contact, with her bluish gaze only ever settling for a few seconds on someone else – particularly a witch, if one is around.

Her nose is something to be questioned, the point coming a little further out than most, the point being somewhat blunted by the odd length. She’s come to terms with her nose, seeing it only as a character-making feature – of course, she’ll never get used to the joke of being ‘too nosey for her own good’. Her lips are somewhat understated, a very gentle feature compared to the rest of his rather angled and finely-cut features. They cast a curved shape, lightly blushed a pinkish brown.

Overall, her face possesses a few very light freckles, barely recognizable as well as a wrinkle or two, though nothing too major at the age of 29. With a pair of glasses tucked away specific for reading, Dylann also possesses a walking stick designed for appearance only, the hard wooden cane decorated with gold accents and a rounded sphere on top, giving a rather aristocratic air to the young woman. Well, so she’d like to believe.

With these little effects, she also tends to wear more open and free-flowing clothes when she has a say in the matter. Despite owning more than her fair share of fancy capes, jackets and breeches, she often opts for the billowing sleeves, loose fit and slacks that require at least two belts to remain in place. When she’s off to work, however, she wears a familiar red outfit, accented with the same gold lining and edges, common amongst those of great fortune.

She has, for the most part, no scars, pierced jewels or tattoos that are visible to the eye – at least, none that would be socially acceptable to show off. Anyone who knows of their locations has clearly seen too much of Dylann.

!!!Inventory:

Weapons:
*Longsword, decorated in a similar fashion to her cane – red scabbard with gold accents.
*A pistol, entirely for show. She cannot aim to save her life, but on the rare occasion has managed to fluke a shot.

Mount:
*Dutters the Kenser

Items of Interest:
*A crystal ball she bought off of a wick – clearly faulty, but she is always amused by the horrid predictions it gives.
*A pocket watch, gold – family heirloom.
*A small amount of money.

!!!Career
Business Owner – Duboisnes’s Book Printing
*Keen business skills
*Confidence and exuberance. Highly sociable
*Skilled with a sword

!!!Goals

To find a nice guy or girl (either wick or galdor), get married, have children (assuming it’s possible). Or, failing that, to properly pursue the career in exploration and foreign trade – maybe even to have a one-off with a wick, but that’s getting to her basest of goals – which she has a lot of.
