Why is this forum read-only? We are currently transferring all active posts to the new forum. Come into chat or email me (cartographette@gmail.com) if you have any questions. If you'd like to volunteer to help, we could use your assistance!

Welcome to the Character Journals section! This is where you can create an IC journal for each of your PCs, and post your character's letters to other PCs and NPCs. This forum is In Character, so all OOC comments need to be in OOC format.

Please only make one journal per character, and specify in your thread title or your first post if OOC comments are allowed. For letters to other PCs or NPCs, you can make a new thread (you don't have to post them in your journal). Reply letters should be posted in the same thread.

Dear Nauleth,

I imagine that you are probably rather annoyed at me right now. This thought pleases me. You see, I have come to see you as a rather brilliant young man that is stiffled by his environment. You take this annoyance out on everyone around you, your teachers, your classmates and even on the people you actually seem to care about. Sometimes showing that you truly care means telling someone that they are an ass, not coddling them because you want them to like you.

Nauleth, you are an ass.

Not just an ass, oh no, you're a whiny ass. Whenever someone bothers to put themselves out on a limb to direct you, you piss in their eyes. Yes, that's right, Naul. In their eyes. You are an extremely difficult young man, often a sign of genius as much as it is a sign of laziness and gout. I feel you could do so much in life, even if you did not bother to remove your thumb from your rectum and actually try. It is not my job anymore to remain non-partisan and say that you are merely a misunderstood soul on the brink of collapse. You are fine, as you are. You're just extremely unpleasant to be around.

No, do not disagree, I am correct in this matter. I'd tell you to ask someone else to confirm this opinion but all the students are terrified of you and how good you are at nasty spells.

Yours Sincerely,
Fidelia Runesrow

p.s. Come and have a go if you think you are hard enough.

Dear Fidelia,

It was shockingly thoughtful of you to leave a note for me – almost as amazing as your apparent skills for anticipating that I would return to look for you at all. Your keen understanding of the nature of my character must have surely given you a clue that I would do so. I am just that much of an ass, you see.

So, you indeed gave in and quit. That was a most disappointing discovery, I assure you.

Besides your stunning vocabulary and choice words of wisdom for someone like myself, what is it I could expect to be worth seeking you out for?

I am most curious.

Sincerely waiting,

Nauleth Siordanti

Post Re: Letters to Fidelia
Nauleth's next letter, delivered via courier and accompanied with a small box, delivered on Bethas 15.

Dear Nauleth,

I am writing to you to inform you of the enjoyment I have found in my newly won freedom. The air tastes sweeter. I have also, finally, begun to make some headway in my research. I understand you wish I had stayed so you could attempt to alienate me. By leaving I have seem to inspired some attachment in you. I feel this is a step forward.

As to what you will hope to gain by coming to visit, I cannot intuit that. I imagine you are annoyed that someone is capable of being more intolerable than yourself. I was merely offering you a rematch, unless you are too scared to come, in which case do not.

Attached with this letter is a small box that shall soon be followed with another containing supplies. Within the box is Mr Bootsy, a ground mole. A follower of the biological sciences knows not to interfere with the course of nature but when I spied him, crying in the undergrowth one day with one leg broken, I could not help myself. It was not my place to intervene but I am glad that I did so, as Mr Bootsy seems to be doing rather well these days. I have provided a list of requirements for him with my second package but I shall lay down the ground rules now.

If Mr Bootsy dies I shall kill you.
If Mr Bootsy is hurt I shall kill you.
If Mr Bootsy is returned to me in any distress I shall kill you.
If Mr Bootsy is not fed when required I shall kill you.

In short, if you display any tendencies towards animal cruelty, I shall kill you. Mr Bootsy is sweet in temperament but somewhat skittish during the day, as one would expect from a prey animal. You should find him to be a loyal companion.

Sincerely,
Fidelia Runesrow

p.s. You may be interested to know that the anaxi ground mole is not actually a mole. It appears to be a relative of the rabbit, though it is even more social, almost eusocial and does not have large enough back legs to hop. They do still exhibit some nocturnal foraging behaviour, possibly to supplement their diets, which explains their large eyes.

Post Re: Letters to Fidelia
Bethas 17th, 2712

Dear Fidelia,

It seems as though I have underestimated the vast expanse of your sense of humor, and for that I must apologize. Apparently, your tender ironies have, until the arrival of one small, furry creature, managed to escape my perceptions. How foolish of me to see your taste for the ironic and subtle as cruelty instead of wit.

Granted, you still have your irritatingly strange moments, but I cannot let those weigh too terribly against the bizarre kindness you have taken upon yourself to show me.

Only you and Alioe seem to know where that comes from.

Certainly, I am far from motivating on the kindness scale of life.

Anyway, Mr Bootsy is fine. I am sure you would have been disgustingly amused at the trouble I went through in the science lab, accosting the underclassman for proper supplies. I might even, at this point, be forced to admit (to no one else but yourself, for the moment) that the creature is at least slightly endearing. As long as he stays away from gnawing on grimoires or keeping me up all hours of the night (I would prefer to blame myself for sleeplessness), I suppose it's a refreshing change to have a pet.

Growing up, pets were not quite welcome in the Siordanti household. I'm not sure if I exactly believe the tale that my brother, Nicias, had allergies so much as my father had no desire to be watching the help clean up after our pets as well as ourselves.

Regardless, I thought you should know that Athrym's expulsion hearing went in our her favor, despite your best efforts, I could say. I could care less if I come across as biased at this point, but I believe that staying at Brunnhold and finishing her education is for the better. I am not sure that the Chairs even thought of her, however, so much as they seemed concerned for the school's image. They claimed to have based their decisions on her academics alone. It seemed only slightly out of sorts, but I am not complaining.

Speaking of school affairs and changing the subject, should I be prepared to be on my best behavior at the Masquerade Ball ... in case you may be attending? If so, I will surely disappoint you, but you are used to that by now.

Lastly – this is admittedly a very strange favor – I have come to recognize your criticism as constructive and not detrimental. Because of this, enclosed you will find an additional letter, addressed to one Lord Margol Bruthgrave. It's a draft, really. If my experience with writing spells is any indication of my lack of etiquette with the mona, I can only imagine that my letter of intention to a girl's father may also be lacking in tact.

Your insight is, believe it or not, insanely welcome.

I will be asking permission to write Athrym's father with my post-graduation intentions at the Ball. Unless I die, which may happen in the mean time. Or on the dance floor. One never knows these things.

In closing, as proof that I have not harmed Mr Bootsy, please note the frayed edges of page two. He seemed to consider it worthy of reminding you I am not always as cruel as I may appear.

Best Regards,

Nauleth Siordanti
