 Lordan Asparrow
Name: Lordan Asparrow
Age: 22
Race: Galdor
Birthplace: Dutaim
History: Lordan was born to a minor galdor lord and his wife, who served as mayor and lady of a number of small towns. As a child, Lor moved frequently, as his parents were often removed and transferred from place to place due largely to incompetence on his father's part. As a result of the travel and his parents' investment in the various mayorships, young Lor never really made any personal connections or developed any true social skills. This held true when the galdor attended Brunnhold. He buried himself in studies and sealed himself away from the world. His parents death severed the last of his lingering ties to others.
What Lordan has seen of galdori has convinced him that they are an aloof race blinded by their pride. He is convinced that the galdori do not have all the power they seem to think they do and that the ability to manipulate the mona is overrated. To combat this, Lor decided to explore the full world around him. He visited Vienda while attending school and studied the humans and the wicks he found there. He learned of their mistrust for the galdori and their suffering and oppression.
After Brunnhold, Lordan took the traveling and the isolation to an even higher level. Journeying to Old Rose and booking passage on a pirate's ship, he basically dropped off the face of Vita for a time. Lor left Anaxis and traveled the three seas and visited Hox, Mugroba, and Hesse. He returns now with a broader knowledge of the world, but still seeking his place in it.
Personality: Lordan is quiet, reserved, and introspective. He inadvertently mimics the aloofness he has seen in his race while proclaiming to detest it. He has become accustomed to fear and hostility and learned to combat it with silence and stoic determination. Traveling with the human pirates, Lor has actually managed to befriend a few of them, as much as he is able to befriend anyone. From them he learned to handle a rapier with some finesse and the galdori dependence on magic has been curbed to the point where Lor barely ever speaks to the mona. Only when he faces a task that cannot be accomplished by mundane means will Lor turn to sorcery.
Description: Lordan Asparrow is slim, but better muscled than most of his kin, although still weak by comparison to most humans. He has learned to pull his own weight and has developed a lithe agility which brings finesse to his swordplay and a light-footed swagger to his stride. His hair and his eyes are dark and his skin pale but tanned by long hours in the sun. His gaze is sharp and moves frequently even while his focus lies on a single target. He keeps to shadows when he can and watches everyone as if studying them closely.
Lor dresses almost invariably in formal black silks, regardless of the occasion. His prized rapier, a beautiful piece of workmanship with a silver blade, hilt, and pommel and black leather wound around the grip, is never far from his hand and is always worn when Lor goes out, a lesson learned from his travels.
Inventory: A wardrobe of black silk clothing. A small manor purchased with his inheritance, as removed from society as Lordan, himself. A small library of novels and books of study. A seer stone he rarely carries. A small amount of money, enough to get by on, but not enough for luxuries.
His rapier. The clothes on his back, including several pouches at his belt.
Career: Explorer (could become a minor noble with some work).
Dexterity (from working on a ship and surviving the wilds) Minimal stealth (from hunting in other lands) Swordsmanship (trained in fencing and swashbuckling) Magic (he IS a galdor) Minimal influence (from intimidation and his parents' positions) Knot-tying (from working on a ship)
Goals: To learn and to study and understand the world around him.
Lor bears no special love for the galdori and studies them just as intently as he studies everyone else. In his eyes, the galdor are inept dictators ruling with illusory power. Lordan believes that much can be gained from all the races contributing to each other (although he does little to make that happen) and that there should be no class system and no separation between the peoples.
