!!!Backstory:

It had been a tortuously stormy day when the young couple and their baby arrived at the Stacks. The couple was dangerously sick. All they had with them were a few personal belongings and their clothes on their backs. They had no identification of any kind, but were obviously Mugrobi by their accent, clothing and appearance. They were taken in by an innkeeper. It was unknown how they had managed to get to the Stacks, what their names were, or why they where wandering around in a rainstorm in the first place. Before they both died of exposure, the mother told the innkeeper her son’s name was Xander Xanos, and made him swear to take care of her boy. Later, the innkeeper was able to gather from various stories told at the inn that Xander’s parents were most likely part of a larger group of Mugrobi, either a trade caravan or a group of people seeking temporary shelter from the plague, either way, something had happened and Xander’s parents ended up in the storm alone, travelling on foot until they arrived at the nearest populated area, the Stacks.

And so Xander grew up without ever knowing his parents. He was raised kindly by the innkeeper and has a room above the inn. He spent most of his childhood running around the streets with his best friend, a human by the name of Nek. However, Xander matured fast and by the time he was 12 was helping his adoptive innkeeper around the inn. The only connection Xander has to his parents is a scimitar that had belonged to his father. Along with his secret schooling in the inn’s basement with Nek, Xander also learned how to wield his father’s scimitar…sort of, as not many people knew how to fight with such an oddly shaped sword. However, Xander prefers to use it instead of a normal short sword. When asked why his usual response is “Well, it just feels right.” Xander is well-read and is the next choice to take over the inn someday. However, Xander has a feeling that there is more to life and is constantly seeking adventure. Recently Xander has been seen more and more around town, as if he is getting restless. He is also getting closer and closer to the gates of Brunnhold.

!!!Personality:

Xander can be described as adventurous, always looking for some sort of adventure. In contrast, Xander can be soft spoken, and even somewhat clumsy. He has never felt truly awkward being of Mugrobi descent while most other people are Anaxi. He also has the peculiarity of being a Mugrobi who acts completely like an Anaxi.

Xander can be very amiable to those who are friendly back, but can be quite shy at times. He can get flustered easily and can become angered when one decides to insult his race or parentage. Many would say it is Xander’s friendliness can be his greatest weakness. That and as his seeming lack of aggressiveness.

Xander’s views on the uprising are a little complex. A firm believer in the Vita religion, he believes all beings are important, magic or otherwise. Saying this, he does not approve of certain methods of the Uprising. The best thing he could hope for would be a peaceful resolution between all factions, though he knows that that might not be possible.

He has a secret desire to see the inside of Brunnhold University, if only for a second. When he was younger, he had considered disguising himself as a golly to infiltrate the University. Well, that is, until he found out that all galdori have a field of mona and would immediately know that he was non-magical. But still, he’s always planning new and strange ways of how to sneak in to the University…only to be squashed as he learns more of the galdori.

!!!Physical Description:

Xander has dark skin, but not overly so, like hot chocolate. He is of good build, rather muscular, but is of short size, about 5’ 7”. He keeps his hair completely shaved, but if he were to grow it out it would be pitch black and kinky. He can be described as stocky. He has a square-shaped head with large almond-shaped eyes, ears that stick out a bit, a thin mouth, and a broad, flat, button nose. His eyes are also a brilliant shade of blue.

His normal attire consists of brown, baggy trousers with a simple leather belt, simple leather boots, a brown or green loose-fitting shirt, a dark olive green worn jacket, and a boxy hat with a frontward bill that matches the color of his jacket.

ok darl, firstly, welcome to thorns. I like the idea behind this character, its an interesting one. but a few things. Firstly, galdori can sense a human in a room through lack of field and secondly they look different to each other. a human couldn't sneak into brunnhold, they'd be found out before they passed the guards at the gate. its the same with galdori, they cant hide from humans unless they can hide their field.

secondly, i like the concept with his parents, but it needs to be a little less obscure. blank pasts really are something we try to avoid here, eg: you can't have a character with amnesia. the sort of lack of explanation for his parents is in that region. perhaps you could go back and think about it a bit more? maybe you have a little idea in your head already.

you've obviously been reading the wiki and back reading the boards, and we thoroughly applaud that here. just make those two edits and we'll have another looky. cheers darl.

Finished the edit. Changed parental origin a little, adding a little flavor (I hope) and added a bit more on his desire to get into Brunnhold University. Heh, I hope this fixes any issues. If you see anything else I could do to make Xander more solid, please let me know. Thank you!

nice creativity darl. just a quick note, one is a galdor...a group of them is galdori...so your word "galdori's" just needs to be "galdori."

the resistance don't operate in mugroba. the problems of anaxas are an outside thing from mugroba and they don't get involved in outside affairs. also, the mugroba galdori and human issue is not as severe as anaxas. there is still a seperation, but not the hunting down kind.

Thanks much for the link. Heh, definitely should have done more reserch. Anyway, made the parents' backgrounds less fantastical, but still realistic...ish. That also eliminates the galdori grammar problem if I'm not mistaken...I think. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your help...hopefully I'll get it right sooner or later. Sheet's looking good. I'd like to change one thing if you don't mind.. since Xander Xanos isn't a Mugrobi-sounding name, perhaps he could have been named by the people he stayed with? I think it would make a bit more sense.

It would also be good if you could explain his motivation for trying to sneak into Brunnhold. Some humans do work within the University on the grounds (and technically the whole city is the University), but not within the Library or buildings. He could probably get a job working the grounds and maybe from there try and see the inside of buildings. He'd have to be very sneaky. It wouldn't be an undercover thing, but more of a hidden-from-view thing. And punishment would likely be banishment from the city, so I think he'd have to have a good reason for trying it.

Anyway, those are my thoughts
