 Triston Bricketson
Name/Title: Triston Bricketson
Age: 15
Race: Passive
Place of origin: Anaxas
Backstory: Raised in a secluded home outside of the city boundaries, Triston had a lonely childhood. The only companionship she had was in the form of her parents who doted on their only daughter lovingly. So it was only understandable that she was struck silent when her mother came to her with the "good" news. Another child was going to be born. She was to be replaced by a newer, younger child...a better child. Her thoughts were a bit twisted, as young children's thoughts are.
This built up over the next few months, her sadness, anger and confusion finally unleashed itself in a horrifying diablerie. Though the first time it happened, this would not be the last. Her mother was heavily pregnant at the time. She did not survive the sudden outburst and neither did her growing baby. The diablerie itself was Level 3 "psionics", its sudden use caused Triston to black out and to this day she doesn't know she killed her mother. The hammer of the law fell hard on her anyway, and she was sent in servitude to the very school she had dreamed of one day attending. Only nine when it happened, she has spent six years watching others gain powers she dreamt of. She stills dreams of it...
The passion to learn consumed her, and she took to sneaking into the library as often as possible, usually under the guise of fetching a book for ms.Denisent, the teacher she was assighned to serve. It seemed useless at times, to bother studying spells her body was incapable of casting. Yet late into the night, one can hear her yelling at herself. Angry at being inferior, denial took its hold. She refuses to accept her limit and despite her humble posture, thinks little of those she serves.
Personality: Her cushy childhood left its mark on her. She gets frustrated easily and to the point of tears, leading some to view her as a crybaby. when alone she daydreams about fantastical stories, beasts and of someday becoming a great queen. Gifted with an overactive imagination (or perhaps not) she likes to believe the mona can hear her even as a passive. Though this could be seen as part of her denial, it is more to combat her feelings of abandonment and guilt towards her parents. This strange behavior makes her hard to approach and for the whole six years she's spent serving at bunnhold none have yet made an attempt to befriend her. Though not oblivious to this, it doesn't bother her much. Her preference for solitude growing since she felt that mona was all the compony she could ever need. Description: Triston's hair is a dirty blond and it falls thickly over her shoulders when let down. For the most part it is kept in a tight bun at the back of her head, to keep it from getting in the way. She is of fairly average height, but appears shorter due to a low bent posture that she adopted to avoid being noticed. Her eyes are rather small appearing, almost constantly looking down with the lids half closed. Reading in the dark has damaged them so things of distance are not easy for her to discern. An attentive listener, Triston almost never mishears things which makes her very good at taking and carrying out orders. During the day, her work as a handmaid involves going back and forth for Ms.Denisent who always seems to forget one thing or another at her quarters or across the grounds. This constant rushing around has given Triston good leg muscles and the ability to sprint short distances at high speeds.
Spell: (perseptive) level 3 psionics.
Inventory:
clothing: 1:2 old blue dresses.(the colors have faded but they have no holes) 2:scuffed up black shoes that pinch her feet 3:a small leather pouch where she keeps the little bits of money she comes upon occasionally
Misc: 1: a level 1 grimiore possibly stolen from the library 2: an old quill pen she found once. she has no ink but likes to play with the soft feather at its tip
Career: Handmade to ms.Denisent 1: good listener 2: fairly fast 3: attentive to others needs 4: her diablerie is sensitive so she stays as calm as she can at all times
Goals: she would never admit it, but Triston has always wanted to be a queen. Her heart yearns to be respected instead of pitied. Tales of the wonderful and benevolent queen Ester turn her thoughts to the future. If she could somehow get her foot in the door of politics, she could bring a change to the world. Has no interest in the resistance and its radical views. She wants to bring change in through a different route, the route she was taught to take, in her childhood.

 Re: Triston Bricketson
Hey Triston I feel like this character would be a great addition to Brunnhold! I just have a couple notes. Firstly, I'd appreciate it if you'd go over this sheet and carefully spell-check and capitalize the first word of every sentence. In a couple places you say "Tristan" instead of "Triston". Secondly, the background is a little bit fuzzy. Firstly, I like the detail about her diablerie going off at age 9 as it spared her from the entrance exam (when most children find out about their passivity) and sets her apart from the others, having unleashed a spell like that so young. I would like to know a bit more about the specific circumstances surrounding the diablerie, like what set it off, and what exactly happened afterwards. (If she blacked out, she could have awoken in a hospital or somewhere else.) I really like that she didn't know what happened to her mother. Could you say in your backstory whether her mother was pregnant at the time, or had a new baby with her? That could add something else to the story. There's a small problem with the mona thing. Even reading grimoires couldn't teach her mona as a language. That would require years of study and instruction.. even graduated students don't speak mona as a language. She'd have to have learned the pronunciation from a teacher, which is majorly forbidden, so if this is a part of your character's plot we need to talk about how to work that in. You've done awesome work on her personality and psychological issues. Denial is a big part of being a young passive. Anyway, if you'd read over my notes and make edits as needed, I would appreciate it

 Re: Triston Bricketson
Im sorry about all those mistakes i made. im not a good writer so its kind of you to be so nice with your critique. I will definitly go through it all and try to make it make more sense. Also, sorry for the big mistake with the mona thing, I should have paid more attention to the wiki. Would it have been possible for her parents to teach her a few things on pronounciation though? I think I'll tone it down anyway, so it makes more sense. Is it ok if I still make her read grimoires? It just seems like she wants to believe that she could use those spells one day. Thats actually the reason I made her diablerie psionics, because it says in the description that it might allow the target to preform magic. Is that possible if its cast on a human or is it specific to people already capable of magic and how would it affect a passive? sorry for all those strange questions, I really want to get my information correct this time...

 Re: Triston Bricketson
You don't need to apologise, there's a lot of information to take in In reference to your question, I can safely say that no teacher at Brunnhold would ever dare to teach a passive magic. It's strictly forbidden, culturally taboo and would result in their firing and possibly even more severe punishments. Besides that, galdori are taught from birth to hate and fear passives, and even the ones who are less uncomfortable around them mistrust them, for the very real fact that most passives aren't very loyal and are likely to try to get their captors in trouble. Her parents might have tried, but "pronouncing" Monite is basically how spells are cast, so if they had tried it would have been very dangerous and irresponsible of them. It's not a language like Estuan (or English)...most of the syllables don't translate directly and understanding Monite really does require years of training that a child wouldn't get. Thinking or speaking casually in Monite just doesn't happen, even with galdori. The very idea would be sacrilegious, as it would be against the noble uses of magic. I do recognize that she's in denial, so trying simple spells wouldn't be too strange, but unless she is very delusional she would have to recognize the danger of doing that. Galdori learn from a very early age that passives are cursed and that sharing the secrets of magic with them would be sacrilege. If a passive servant were to be caught with a grim, they'd be in for a heap of trouble. As for the second question, as far as common knowledge goes, the spell Psionics has never been tested on passives. It's an offensive spell used to confuse the mind, and even if it doesn't result in brain damage the magic produced would be random and uncontrolled. Passives are a very special exception to most rules (the reasons for this have not been explained in-game yet) so you will have to just wait and see what happens if her diablerie goes off

 Re: Triston Bricketson
ok, well I think I fixed up a good portian of it but what do you think? Also, I think its safe to say she cares less and less about her own safety each day at brunnhold so her stealing a grim and trying small spells like push seems like something she would do in her desperation. I cant wait to see what happens if she uses her diablerie. Got to hand it to you though, this is probably the most thought out rp I have ever seen. Its so cool!
