Post (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
Quote:
Located in the Ethia region, the Lorecave is a cave found in the valley upon which the wicks of old painted the history of their people. Deceptivly plain, the opening to the cave is but a mere dark opening in the rockface. When entered, a tunnel leads into the depths, low enough that one must crouch slightly to get through. Sconces carved into the tunnel walls hold small bowls of slow burning tallow. The bowls give a soft light to the whole area, enough light to let one walk safely until the tunnel opens up into a large rounded cavern.

Here, there is no need for lighting. A species of lichen that grows in the cave gives off a soft white glow, casting an etheral light all over the cave. The rock itself is a colorful mix of lime and granite, with streaks of quartz layered through out. It's walls are almost smooth, and upon them are paintings from long long ago. They tell the history of the wicks, and the discovery of Anahu. Far from primitive, they are intricate and beautiful, painted in rich earthy tones. A sense of peace and understanding can be gained from spending time in the Lorecave.

The morning mist slowly seeped into the cave like a yawning cat. There was a faint glow in towards the back of the cave. All that was really visible at this hour, though was the glow and a meditating wick. Glynn came to the lorecave almost every morning. It gave him peace and serenity. It was the perfect place and time to just forget your worries.

Glynn did not have on his loremaster robe on. He was wearing a simple green poncho over a bare torso and loose brown trousers. His hair was growing rather long as of late. He liked it, though, it made him feel warm. His dusty brown skin reflected the faint glow of the cave lichen perfectly, he almost looked like a spirit.

He was not performing Mans but he was very deep in thought. He was wondering about the state of things. It seemed life would be changing drastically soon and he had no idea why. It gave him an eerie feeling. He could not feel a presence and that made him rather happy. He did not like when he was interrupted. He was to tired still to be really angry though.

Post Re: (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
Reokan stood on the path that led from the Ethia tribe main town, up to the Lorecave, his summer green gaze sweeping over the farm land, nodding to the workers that smiled back at him. He was patrolling, checking on the Anhau citizens. Ever since he and Jyndri had taken out the man eater in the forest, Reokan had taken it up on himself to check the villagers each morning before setting out on the hunt or getting into his tanning. Glancing up the hill, he adjusted the strap across his shoulder where his crossbow hung, ready to be swung around, loaded and shot in the blink of an eye, bolt already sitting in the top, uncocked.

Waving to the passing weavers, coming down from collecting reed grass, he started off up the hill, hoping to finish his round and get back to Roek in time for lunch.

Post Re: (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
Like Reokan, Frith had wandered outside of the Roek main area and like Rokekan, he too had his bow and quiver hung about his person. He had been out early that morning and brought his kill over to the Ethia tribe. In the week or so that he had been back, Frith had accepted that he would not be able to sell much his hunt to the Roek tribe.

They would not buy from him- though Frith did not think it was punishment, more that a routine had been gradually settled into the tribe in his absence, a small change but one difficult to leap into after such a long time away.

As he finished, Frith allowed his eyes to wander beyond the main confines of Anhau to the lorecave. He had been once as a young man, and overwhelmed by the history of the valleys and by ancient stories carved into the rock. He had wondered then what part he might play in the history of the valleys like the heroes painted onto the walls. Those had been happier days, before he had become a stain on the rock-face of history.

He felt and urge to visit the caves and followed the path towards it. Upon doing so, he spotted a familiar face; a hunter, Reokan Agurne, a fellow Roek some five years older or so than he. They had been raised together as all of the tribe had been and he knew all about Frith. The bearded wick wished he could simply bow his head and duck away quickly and quietly, but knew that was not what was expected of him. Frith raised a solemn hand to Reokan.

Post Re: (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
The tanned man squinted at the figure waving to him, making out features as it approached. It was Frith. Reokan held himself to be Roek through and through, and Frith had been exiled for years. But his exile was over now, and it seemed he wanted to be a productive member of society. Still...

"Ho there Frith, it has been a very long time. Are you heading uphill also?" His voice was pleasant and welcoming, but there was a hint of something there. A subtle warning that Reokan still knew what had happened, and was watching Frith carefully.

"Roekan," said Frith gruffly, his head bent, face seeming to disappear inside of his beard like a snail or turtle may disappear into his shell. "Too long, it seems-" he spoke truthfully of the crawling ten years, an animal dragging it's broken legs behind it to find some hidden corner to die. "Your family is well I hope? The time has treated you kindly?"

"Uphill? I do not..." Frith trailed off, scratching his head- the fleas from the flats still clung to his hair, weaving between coarse brown waves. He knew it would be easier to stay alone, to avoid contact altogether- but that would not help him in the long term, "yes, if I may join you?" he bowed his head in respect, still not looking Roekan in the eye.

"Are you patrolling?" Frith resolved that he would volunteer a patrol. It would be a good way to show his willingness to return to society, without actually having to re-enter it before he was ready. Perhaps Roekan would be able to help him? From what Frith could remember, he had been a popular man.

Post Re: (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
Reokan kept his distance slightly from the man, partially from a slight distrust, partially from the lice. He knew the story, he'd lived it. Love was a bitter and curious thing, turning sane men into fools. But Frith had served his time, and that was fine by Reokan, but still. To attempt to kill a durg...

"My family is well, as are yours I gather. Yes, patrolling." He paused, eying the hill again.

"Do you want to join me?"

Post Re: (L1, Early morning) The Lorecave (Frith, Reokan, O)
"It has often been said that two pairs of eyes are better than one," said Frith, the briefest of smiles twitching behind the mask of his beard and the boy flashing slightly behind dull, downcast eyes. He followed with line well practised in his head, "It would be an honor to be able to serve the great Roek tribe and the rest of Anhau," so well practiced that his voice sounded dull and lifeless, each syllable slightly forced despite the good meaning behind them.

Hesitantly, he made towards the Lorecaves, casting a wary eye on Reokan- as though expecting him to change his mind and choose not to go with him, and also- as were his hunter like instincts, deep rooted and unshaken by the flats as though Frith expected one of Reokan's arrows to find itself embedded into one if Frith's tanned shoulders.

So as not to spend the walk in silence, Frith wondered what to say to the other Reok, so out of practised was he in the finer points of conversation and that alien small talk, but decided that to talk shop would be the safest of options.

"That is a fine crossbow," he said, eyes darting nervously about, "powerful, yes? I have always favored the long bow, just as my father has done, but it was my desire to become well practiced with both." Was. This was the longest sentence, Frith realized that he had uttered since he returned, it was pleasing and also made him feel slightly uneasy.
