Post Journal of I-- Seth Richards
(Ophus 26th, Early morning)

It was a rather strange series of events, last night. Everything started as it normally, would- the streets quieting down as people filed out of their work places and went home or to taverns with friends. I found a rather nice-looking, two-story Galdor home, assuming it would be loaded, and of course upon gainign access (with the owners express permission, of course) I found I had been correct. I set Rita down and she went off for something shiny- I just know that had we not been interrupted so soon after our entry that we would have left with some nice loot. Unfortunately, luck was not with us.

A strange young Wick female- a bit boyish in appearance- and her bander wolf barged in on our raid, apparently thinking it wise to interrupt a busy, possibly armed thief (and, as always, I was armed). I handled the situation moderately well, whipping out my dagger, and-- ... Rita would like for me to correct that last statement, as fate would have it, my hand slipped and I found a lockpick instead. Either way, I approached her threateningly, but apparently she didn't see me as a danger- must have been the lockpick... or maybe it was the added "Stabbity, Stabbity" to the end of my threat... anyway, she laughed at me (something I found quite embarrassing for some reason). She then threatened to tell the Seventen, and started rambling nonsense, which irritated Rita, but we both knew we couldn't have this girl turning us in to those rotten scoundrels. We also knew that if she told them, she ran the risk of getting herself in trouble for some made up crime.

Not wanting to tempt my fate, I made an offer she could't refuse- drinks, and half my spoils for that night's raid. She bought it, thankfully, but said something about turning Rita into a pair of boots if she found out I was lying- quite the barbaric thing to do, if you ask me. I suppose if she asks about it, I'll have to give her something, though the 'spoils of the raid' won't cut it, as we didn't get the chance to take anything.

We took a little trip to Stolley's Tavern, got there a little after midnight, and shared some drinks- still hard to believe she'd never had a drink before then. Anyway, I got her some moonshine, and she said it sounded magical, though when she tried it her face told me she wasn't fond of it. Must have been the burn. Funny, she didn't ask me for something else, though I would have happily got her some beer instead. Probably would have been better to start her off with, now that I think about it. Strange wick, indeed. We exchanged names, and she had the audacity to make fun of mine, when in my heart she will always be affectionately remembered as "Minnie" (Her full name is Minke Labres, unless she is hiding a rather embarrassing middle name from me, I wonder...).

After a while she warmed up to the moonshine- drank a lot of it. She got quite drunk, quite fast, and before I knew it I was helping her off the floor, to which she had so gracefully acquainted herself. I helped her into a chair and made sure she didn't try to get up again until she could stand on her own two feet. She then started rambling pretty loudly about Galdor and I had to quiet her before she said something that got us both in trouble. She then proceeded to ask about the Underground. I wonder if she wants to join the resistance? I don't know- when I asked, we were both hushed by ol' Stolley, and soon after that, she left.

Strange night, indeed, but I think I like her... not like that, mind you, but she could become a good friend. We all need friends, right? I think I'll go looking for her tomorrow.... no- today, begads, it's already the 26th! Later today then, I suppose, after a good rest... but first, I think I'll have another drink.

Post Re: Journal of I-- Seth Richards
(Ophus 27th, early morning)

I am quite sick. Nothing major, really, but I do have a fever and a slight cough.

It's funny, yesterday started out so great... well, sort of...

It was great, aside from the slight headache I had from a minor hangover. It would seem I had more than just one more drink that night. But doesn't it always end up that way? It made me wonder how much of a hangover Minke had after her first night drinking.

Upon waking, I went looking for my little 'Minnie', and though I wasn't entirely sure why at the time, I now remember it was to ask her why she had an interest in the underground. After about an hour of searching, I finally found her, or rather, she found me... quite literally ran into me, to be honest. She didn't seem very happy to see me at first, but then I aksed her if she wanted to join the resistance with me, and to my pleasant surprise, she agreed. So from there, it was off to Vienda to look for information on someone who might recruit us.

We stopped to rent moa, so our trip would go a little faster (which likely backfired, by the way). There was one moa in particular which cought my eye- a beautiful black beast, young, and healthy, with red and gold streaks through it's long tail. I wanted to buy him, but the gentleman in charge of them- a rather irritable fellow- so kindly pointed out everything I lack to take care of the thing. But I promise I will eventually go back for him, when I have what is required to care for him. I wonder if he has a name? If not, I will have to think of one. Maybe Bob? Rita isn't fond of that name, but noone said she had to ride on Bob. Anyway, I reluctantly left the creature behind, and Minke and I were stuck renting the less magnificant brown moa.

It took a while to learn how to ride them, as I had never ridden anything before then, but I don't think I will go over that scenario again, aside from saying that Minke quite enjoyed watching me make a fool of myself.

Once we got used to them, they offered quite the smooth ride, and even Rita was enjoying herself... until there was a rather unfortunate turn of events when the weather suddenly turned foul. It was already cool, but with the rain it became freezing, and it didn't take long before we were both soaked through. Poor Rita was miserable. I have no idea how long we rode in that terrible mess, but I know that I quickly got ill of it. Somewhere along the way, I passed out, and woke up here, in Vienda. Apparently someone was nice enough to take us in and provide a night of food and shelter. I am not sure if they will extend their hospitality, but I am greatful to them nonetheless, as were it not for the warmth of this shelter, I am quite certain my condition would be much worse.

I also have Minke to thank for helping me. She could have easily left me for dead, taking all of my valuables in the process. But she didn't, instead being more compassionate than anyone I have ever met. I am more greatful to her than she could ever imagine. She is asleep, right now (kind of cute when she sleeps), and so is Rita. In fact, I should probably be getting to sleep, as well.

Post Re: Journal of I-- Seth Richards
(Ophus 27th, very late at night)

'Twas a rather embarrassing morning, or rather, afternoon. I know, it was my fault, and that really only serves to add insult to injury. From now on I will always remember to lock the door when I take a bath. Minke walked in on me, of course. I think she may have been as embarrassed as I was... ok, maybe not quite as much. I thought I was going to die, and when she ran away, I was terrified she was angry at me. I found her, later, after managing to calm myself, in the Book and Bell. She wasn't mad, to my great surprise, and utter relief. I bought us some beer, and we got some information. I must say, Minke has been quite the lucky charm, and I am finding myself attached.

The barkeep was a bit crazy, but nice enough, and, after invading my personal space -for a second I was afraid she was going to kiss me- was able to tell us what to do. She said to go to the corner of Brink and Harrison, and wait for this someone to come by with a cart and ask him for a 'cool drink of water'. And that's where we waited- I managed to sneak a hug from Minke and play it off like I was warming her up- in my defense, it was rather cool out. She didn't seem to mind. It felt nice, awkward, but nice. And then there was the kid with the cart. I hadn't expected him to be so young, nor had I expected him to be blind.

Anyway, I asked for a cool drink of water, as instructed, and he handed me a crystal container filled with a clear fluid- not water- and a small paper inside. It had a terrible smell to it. He said something about finding some light, and that it was 'aweful dark'. It took a while to get the meaning behind his words, but then Minke cast a light spell and a lot happened. First of all, the crystal shattered, and appeared to vanish, and then a messege appeared on the paper, reading "Cook's, O 30, 29oc".

We eventually took it's meaning to be "Cook's Place," Minke thought of that one, "Ophus 30th, 29 o'clock." We'll have to be sure to get there on time. But we have a couple of days to kill, so I figure we're going to explore Vienda in that time. Hopefully I won't prove to be too much of a bore. I want her to have a good time... with me.

(Intas 1st, morning)

Last night was a success! We went on to Cook’s Place, as directed, and after a bit of (a rather uncomfortable) wait and a long discussion, in which we answered a umber of tough questions, Minke and I were accepted as members of the resistance! We will be searching for a house in the next few days, staying with the nice couple until we find one. We’ll also find cover jobs to work until we’re needed for something major. At some point in the near future, a healer from the Resistance should come see me to heal my scars- I should have no defining features, you see. Who knew magic was so useful? Guess I’ll see first hand how well a healing spell deals with an ages-old scar.

Post Re: Journal of I-- Seth Richards
(Bethas 20th, evening)

Wow, it's been some time since I've written anything. After the disappearance of Minke (and still no word from her), things have slowed down. I often find myself wondering where she is, and if she is ok- if I will see her again....

The past few days have been interesting, to say the least. Exciting, I suppose, if a little too adventurous, and it didn't even have the liberty of being associated with the Resistance- how I still yearn to do something useful! I suppose I should explain myself.

On the morning of Bethas 17th, things started out pretty normal. I was making my rounds, picking a few pockets along the way, when suddenly Rita leapt from my shoulder and ran away from me! I tried calling her back, but she was downright determined to catch what ever it was she was chasing- my guess, is it was something shiny. Ok, so, she TOLD me it was something shiny. But it still wasn’t worth the trouble she got me into. By the time I caught up with her, she’d gotten onto a ship, and before I could do a thing about it, that ship left the docks! I admit I was more than a little miffed, and terrified of what would become of me when I was discovered. Of course I couldn’t just jump overboard, I’d drown, and so would Rita! So I hid away amongst some crates, as was my last resort.

I was doing a pretty good job of not being discovered, until some idiot cabin boy bumped me with his mop. Thankfully- or so I thought- he made a deal with me: if I did his chores for the duration of the trip, he wouldn’t report me to the captain. Of course I accepted, because I didn’t want to be killed. He wasn’t a very nice bloke, and kept me busy, mending the sails, repairing the nets, and polishing the silver. I was trapped in that cramped room for a night and the better part of the next day before nature called. That’s when things really got bad. The sailors had me cornered, and I had to jump overboard- a leap of faith for one who can’t swim.

After nearly drowning in the river’s strong currents, I somehow managed to make it to shore where, after a much-needed nap, I made my way to Old Rose Harbor, so I could find Rita, who was unable to follow me in my escape. I made it to Old Rose late at night on the 18th, and found my way to the Mad Queen- and more trouble. The sailors were there! And they had Rita! And in a flash, they also had me.

I could feel their urge to kill me then ad there, but the Captain was surprisingly understanding, I guess you could say. All he wanted was compensation for the ride- compensation for two- a concord and a half! That was when I did something I now regret- as much as I felt the cabin boy deserved it, I now know it was wrong; I ratted him out and he was fired. The money he’d earned was taken from him and my price was lowered to one concord. Still too much to pay in cash. After having me pay him all the money I had on me, and a long two days of hard labor, I was free to go with my life, and Rita was given back to me, unharmed.

Now I’m tired, hungry, sore, and without a fort to my name. But I’m alive, and enjoying a nice sunset on Haverton Pier. Tonight I’ll get as much rest as I can, as tomorrow is devoted to earning enough money to get back to Vienda.
