Please only make one journal per character, and specify in your thread title or your first post if OOC comments are allowed. For letters to other PCs or NPCs, you can make a new thread (you don't have to post them in your journal). Reply letters should be posted in the same thread.

Post Letters Back Home
Dear Kaid and Father.

I'd thought I'd just write this letter to let you know that I'm alright. I've gotten to Vienda fine. It took me a few more days than I expected, but I'm alright.

Vienda is a lot more, well, hostile than I expected. Gollies crawl around here more than they did in the farmlands and the crime levels here are monstrous. You see people pick pocketing and stealing so much here. I see it a few times a day, and I feel so sorry for these poor lost souls. At least I have you behind me, guiding me on. I'm lucky in that aspect.

Last night I couldn't find any accommodation before the taverns closed - I slept on the streets, in an alley beside a factory. Please don't worry about me, I will be fine. I'm getting a room at The Clockwork Stag tonight - a tavern in the Soot District. I don't know about long term arrangements just yet, but I'm thinking of acquiring a job soon, so I can get a more stable position.

I'm writing this letter in the tavern I'm staying at tonight, The Clockwork Stag. As far as I can tell, there is only two staff members; a youngish wick barmaid, and what looks like a very grumpy and angry human owner with one eye. I had a mug of ale. It was comforting after a long time on the road. The business here is great, they are people everywhere; a full house. It's extremely surprising considering in the state of the world at the moment. Good luck to them. If they only have two staff here, maybe they are in need of another? A cook perhaps? I will inquire - maybe I came across the right place. Maybe I'm in luck.

The golly occupation here is, well, intimidating. You see they walking around in their expensive clothing, their faces full of disdain for the place they live in. I haven't seen any magic yet, and I don't particularly plan to. I often give them hostile looks, and they often return them, their noses turned up. Stupid gollies, they think they're so high and mighty... Ha! I wish I could just put them in their right place, but, I don't know how strict the law is to us humans. I'd rather keep my wits about me and keep to myself for now. Their police here, the Seventen, are ruthless to us humans and tsats. They are always looking for something or someone to prosecute. You don't want to get on the wrong side of the Seventen. I've been here two days and I can already say that.

Too bad I plan on being on their wrong side. I haven't seen any evidence of the Resistance. No rumours, no cells, nothing. I plan on inquiring, but at a better time, and only to people I can trust. Too bad I don't trust anyone right now. This mission will require a bit of skill...

Life here isn't going to be easy father. But, once I get into a better situation, i know everything for us is going to change. I'll keep you up to date on my happenings. Mean while, father, Kaid, please... Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. You both know it.

Love you both.
Jane

Post Re: Letters Back Home
Hamis 17th

Dear Kaid and Father

I have been employed for four days now.

I am currently working and living in a tavern called The Clockwork Stag. I am now the cook of a respectable business. Kaid, Father, if you could be here, you'd be proud. I enquired, and now I am working as a cook with my payment in the form of board. I feel as if I am becoming part of establishment, part of a family.

It's good to find somewhere I can call my home away from home.

The tavern only has a couple of other workers. The owner is Mr. Gannon Oranos. He's Bestian and in his mid twenties. He has black hair, and only one eye - the other is covered with an eye patch. At first, I thought he was an angry, intimidating man, but now, he's not so bad. He's a good enough man. Well, he employed me... Ha ha!

The other is a wick barmaid; Vicka Vanmoor. She's also in her twenties, but she's a darling. She's very nice and even bought me some meat to work with this morning. She's kind, but she has already been widowed once before. A strange mysterious character, but nice none the less.

These are same two employees I mentioned in my last letter. They're very different than I expected. Pleasantly surprised, I was.

It's happened so quickly, it's hard to believe. I still wake up disorientated in my room - it's still quite strange to me! My second day in Vienda, and I've already found a job and a place to stay.Vienda is such a rough different place to home; a bit of a culture shock. Nothing is in abundance as it is back in the farmlands. But, I am very lucky to be to find such a stable position so quickly. Luck is really on my side.

I might not be able to send this letter soon, funds dwindle in a place like this. You might not actually get this letter for a couple of weeks. I'm sorry for the delay, but it's necessary.

The customers have started to come in. I have to go back into the kitchen, today looks like it's going to be a long busy day. I'll let you know if anything else happens.

Love you both,
Jane.
