Post Submit Wiki Contributions - Spell Directory
This page is for the submission of ideas for the Spell Directory! If you have any ideas for new galdori or wick spells, submit them here.

We are reviewing all submissions, so keep in mind that your idea might be accepted and might not be. If your contribution is accepted, we will announce it on here. Don't take it personally if your spell isn't adopted into the wiki; some spells are simply not possible or might unbalance the game. Please do not suggest any spell that already exists (or has the same effect as an existing spell).

It's a good idea to suggest several varieties of your spell idea, in different "flavors" of weak, medium-strength and strong. Spell strength scales with ability.

Don't worry if your spell idea is reliant on an existing spell (for example, Hydrosmosis is just a specific kind of Push spell). That's how magic works here! The spells in the SD are mostly just variations on several "framework" spells, written with specific uses in mind. If your spell does something useful or new, it stands a good chance of being accepted.

Please keep in mind the Limitations of Magic and how magic actually works in this world. If you can't fathom how it could be achieved by science, it probably won't work as magic.

Post Re: Submit Wiki Contributions - Spell Directory
After touching the subject with Jade in PM (but only briefly), I'd like to propose a dowsing spell for all of you to discuss. It would be an intermediate / advanced spell.

Dowsing: a form of scrying by which a caster asks the mona to guide him/her towards nearby (usually underground) water. Usually involves the use of a short staff or pendulum that the mona will pull towards water.
At intermediate level, the spell is very unreliable with a very short range, implying that the caster has to walk the surveyed grounds while paying attention to minute and sometimes misleading changes on how the staff feels in his hands, all the while maintaining his field active and fighting the side effects, which usually include some dizziness.
As the caster gains experience, the results become more reliable, going up to the mona directly directing the caster himself towards water for the older users.
This spell has fallen into disuse amongst galdori, probably due to its unreliable nature, and most Anaxi wicks do not bother to learn it either, but some Mugrobi tribes still specialise in it, even earning money by helping human farmers decide where to dig wells.
