!!!Backstory:
Harlin was born into the Black Hand Tribe as a second generation wick who always proved to be more trouble than he was worth. The problem wasn’t that he was particularly more mischievous than any of his age-appropriate counterparts so much as it was that he just didn’t get certain things. Despite the best efforts of his galdor-sired father and wick-born mother, Harlin developed a terrible proclivity towards indiscriminate lying. No matter the time of day nor which wick caught him, little cheeky Harlin would simply raise his impish eyes and fib straight through his teeth. Perhaps it was brought to life through a fear of immediate retribution or maybe he just got a kick out of pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes, but, either way, the boy earned an overwhelming number of slaps to the bottom for his efforts.

By the time he turned nine, however, most of his tendencies had died down. Either he actually got better at it or his buttocks was getting too sore (mainly just the latter). Lucky too, since while general trickery was more than encouraged, deceiving members of your own tribe was most definitely not. It was also around this time that the caravan made its second (in Harlin’s lifetime anyway) trek to Vienda in order to sell off some of their wares and rip a few people off. Considering he had been too young the last time to remember any of it, his exposure to the hustle and bustle of city life, to pirates, to beggers, to galdori and humans and passives was like being struck by a glorious bolt of lightning.

And he absolutely fell in love with it. The world outside the plains was diverse and exciting, just begging to be plundered for all its worth and infinite possibilities. Unfortunately, this dawning of a new mindset brought with it some not-so-unfamiliar habits, and Harlin fell hard backwards into his old routines.

At the awkward age of seventeen, he finally left the Tribe on the far outskirts of Dorhaven and that was that.

What followed next could mainly be described as a messy web of movement. Somehow or another, Harlin managed to scrap up enough funds in Dorhaven to get him to Vienda, and after a good year or so spent there, off to Old Rose. He dabbled in many things, including but not limited to petty thievery, pick-pocketing, and selling off stolen trinkets. Once he had garnered a decent amount of experience through trial and error (mostly error), he applied for a position on a pirate ship and sailed off into the sunset.

The excursion didn’t last long, however. Actually, none of his ever did. Since then he’s jumped around from crew to crew, some in the water, some in the air, but almost always with some sort of independent break in between. Currently, he’s winging it solo and intends to keep it that way for a good while.

!!!Personality:
While he is still plagued with a mischievous persona, Harlin has dimmed down some since his younger years. His actions are more cool and reserved than they once were, though he’s still considerably more outgoing than the general folk. A vague perma-grin seems to perpetually strap itself to his features, giving him the impish aura that he so deserves. He is a shameless swindler and therefore makes great use out of acting generally affable, even if a little passively so. Because of his drifted status, he tends to avoid most nomadic wicks that he encounters, and others find him to be ultimately untrustworthy. Which is true. After all, he does lie. A lot.

!!!Physical Description:
Considering Harlin is not so removed from human and galdori ancestry, his physical characteristics certainly don't deny it. His eyes are a deep brown with a distinctive golden ring embellishing each pupil, and there are dark freckles spackled across his curved nose and cheeks. A muddly olive complexion dominates his ovular face, betraying soft oily shines due to the unshaven nature of his skin. Much like his wick brethren, Harlin's lean figure is decorated with an assortment of tattoos and piercings. A stark black tribal design surrounds his left eye, twists back over his scalp, and ends in a flourish at the nape of his neck. Similar designs are duplicated in bands around his ankles, and another is imprinted on his abdomen. He has two silver bars pierced side by side on his right eyebrow and a collection of hoops, hooks, and studs on both ears.

Bits and pieces of his coarsely straight black hair have since been dyed green, shaved off, and twisted into a medley of braids. The braids he keeps long, but the rest of his unplaited locks are cut in a variety of lengths depending on their position on his head. He does have sideburns, but they are not big and do not curve around his cheek like most. He has tried to grow them out in the past in order to try and impress the ladies in the past, but it always just ended up looking a mess.

Harlin dresses himself in the typical leather-trimed garb of the adventurer, and particularly has a thing for knee-high boots.

!!!Goals

Despite the fact that Harlin has trouble committing himself to one occupation for any extended period of time, he would absolutely kill to get his hands on an aeroship. Sea ships are nice and all, but during his brief excursions in the sky, he has falled for the unparalled versatility in air travel. Also, by obtaining his own ship, he could in turn gather and let his own crew members go as he pleased.

<__< eh... I know from personal experience, that anything short of murder won't get you kicked out of your tribe. So instead of being abandoned, you may want to have him just leave the tribe.
