!!!Backstory:

Ashleigh Silvertree was born to wick parents of the Lost Moon tribe, along with five older sisters. Having had five girls before Ashleigh, they expected another one, so when "she" came out as a he, they kept the name they picked out before hand. In his early years, his name didn't bother him much. Around the age of eight is when the barbs finally started to hit sensitive areas. Sick of his peers cruel jokes, he shortened his name to Ash, and proceeded to beat up anyone who continued to call him by his full name.

When he reached the age of 10, it was discovered that his magical power was next to nothing. He could cast spells, albeit very weak. Only being able to master a couple spells lead to ridicule by his sisters,which fueled his desire to one-up them. Devoting himself to the non-magical portion of the almanac, learning the tricks quickly and efficiently. What took his sisters a year to learn Ash managed to learn in several months.

As Ash was learning everything that he could from the almanac he was helping his parents break and train horses. While the gods hadn't gifted him with strong magic, they had given the young wick an affinity with animals. He was often seen talking with the horses that the Silvertree family was training. Nose to nose, he'd usually laugh about something nobody else seemed to understand.

When he was eighteen, wanderlust had set in. Thankfully a Laughing Sky caravan was nearby, and with their customary hospitality, they allowed the young wanderer into their midsts. As he traveled with them, he grew a little disgruntled and bored. More for the lack of things to do when at rest than with the quality of company. One of the young wicks Ash had been hanging around showed him to a Kalu Dance group to help the Lost Moon find something to do. Ash was instantly captivated, jumping in at the first available moment.

Completely oblivious to those watching the young Lost Moon went at the Kalu Dance with enthusiasm, learning as he went and laughing as well. Unaware of the eyes of a young woman watching him, he continued caring on with the other members of the group. When it was time for the next partner, the young woman jumped in and quickly tagged him out, blowing him a kiss before disappearing back into the crowd. After that instant he practiced the Kalu everyday, even when nobody else was playing.

After that fateful night, Ash kept noticing that one girl around the caravan. No matter how hard he tried, the young Lost Moon couldn't get her to say one word to him. He eventually learned that the girls name was Beth, and that she was mute. Having something else to occupy himself with proved good for the wandering wick, in between work and Kalu practice he started to learn to sign so he could communicate with Beth.

Soon he was talking with Beth, who proved to be of similar mind. They signed, laughed, and walked together. Soon many considered them an item, and the two lovebirds did nothing to dissuade this notion. After the caravan had stopped for the evening the two were often seen practicing signing and Kalu together. The friendly game would often speed up to an actual fighting pace, though the two never noticed it.

Ash traveled with the Laughing sky for three and a half years before wanderlust began to lead his feet off the path of the caravan. He tried to convince Beth to leave with him, but she wouldn't leave her family just yet. Ash tried to stay in the caravan, but the wanderlust proved to strong. With a sad goodbye the Lost Moon wick left the caravan that had been his home. With tears in his eyes, a smile on he lips, he waved goodbye to the woman he thought he loved.

The last six months proved mundane in his travels. He still practiced Kalu at night after he made camp, starting slow and then going as fast as he could. Practiced the tricks and magic he learned as a child, as well as taking time to work with small animals that wandered to close. Which is how he managed to find a skinny hingle he named Bones and a yellow/orange/black whice Ash named Brand. He began teaching Brand how to curse in Tek, while he taught Bones to sneak around under his clothing to snag items he put by his hand.

Reaching Old Rose Harbor he let out a resigned sigh. It wasn't what he was used to, but he'd make the best of it. He missed the bustle of the caravan and hoped that the port town would prove something similar. Heading towards the gate, the young wick whistled a little tune about changing the world through laughter.....

!!!Personality:

Ash is relaxed and peaceful, with an explosive temper. He explodes and is done, continuing on like nothing happened. Loving to smile and laugh he does so at each opportunity, often at inappropriate times. Always attempting to make friends, he bounces around, trying to talk to as many people as possible.

The quickest way to earn the Lost Moon's ire is a mean-spirited prank/joke. Anything done with the intent to hurt others is a no-go in his book, and he quickly objects. Loudly, harshly and with little care for whose doing the prank.

Has a habit of signing when he talks. Sometimes he signs what he's thinking, though it's usually when he's frustrated.

!!!Description:

Ash is a whopping 5'7" and an astounding 142 lbs. His time spent practicing Kalu has left his muscles toned and cord-like, though none of them are bulging. His platinum blond hair is cut short into a faux hawk, with neon blue tips. A blond goatee sits upon his chin, only half an inch long. Green eyes smile at anyone who looks into them, matching the slight smile often tugging at the corner of his lips.

His dress is simple though a little eccentric. A black pair of trousers wrapped at the waist and ankles tied with blue/green sashes, a white long sleeve undershirt, with a black vest always open, and a pair of black riding boots. Bones tends to curl up in his undershirt while Brand tends to perch on his left shoulder.

Tattoos: A series of ornamental basket knots form sleeves upon his left and right arms from wrist to neck, raven wings upon his hip bones, an upside down crescent moon upon his back with the points at the base of his neck, and a horseshoe in the center of his chest. All happen to be black.

Piercings: A ring in his septum, a barbell between his eyes on the bridge of his nose, two rings in his lower lip in line with his nostrils, 10g-12g-14g-16g piercings in both ears lower lobs, industrials in both ears with two orbitals going around the industrials, four barbells forming a diamond in the center of the horseshoe, and barbells between each vertebrae.

There aren't any celts in thorns. That's not to say the tattoo would be illegal or anything, but it couldn't be a culturally based thing in thorns - Cart is always very careful to invent the culture material without direct references to existing ones. Feel free to have the tattoo, but if it comes up in RP, it might have to be his own designing that led to the knot or something along those lines.

Cool! Sounds like an interesting character and a great addition to the Harbour. I think you should definitely do a drawing of your character too, the detailed description is really asking for it!

Perhaps instead of describing the tattoos as "Celtic," it would be better to just call them "stylized knotting designs" instead? That gives you some room for artistic expression in terms of the appearance of the markings.

Though I am slightly embarrassed, about the spelling errors and repeat descriptions. I'm trying to be an English major. Fixed the description of the "Celtic Knots" to ornamental basket weaving knots.

I'd love to draw Ash. The only problem is that if I'm giving coloring/art materials I only seem to make a mess. If somebody would like to draw him I would be more than happy to give them permission.

Alright. Some quick notes on Ash. Since he's weak in magic here's the list of spells he doesn't have to "work" to cast. Usually casting three to four of the spells he knows tires him out, though one not from his list tires him out almost instantly.

Lamp, Balance, and Push/Pull are the spells he generally uses (Mainly cause they're the ones he can). Though he hasn't used them the last couple years, do to the severe headache they tend to cause. Tries to keep his field as small as possible.

Knowing all the level one tricks from the almanac, he practices these tricks every night along with his Kalu: Magic Sleeves (Occasionally Bones will help), Ventriloquism, and Dodge.

That isn't quite how magic works here. It's good to know which spells Ash can do and how strong he is magically, but when it comes to the difficulty of the spell and how many can be cast, that's more the decision of the mod modding the spell. You might find it ends up being similar to this, but its largely out of the hands of the player how magic goes down.

It's good to know what spells a character uses more often, though. I don't mind particulars. I'll put a note in your AM log.
