 Siduri Sasan
((Erm...yeah, I was lured in from dA, so if I need to fix anything, just let me know! :'D))
'''Name/Title:''' Siduri Sasan
'''Age:''' 20
'''Race:''' Galdori
'''Place of Origin:''' The Stacks, Brunnhold, Anaxas
!!!Backstory:
Siduri is the child of two passives, although his mother died shortly after giving birth to him. His father, a laborer, worked almost constantly, and he had a very lonely childhood, often falling ill due to malnutrition and a very low tolerance for cold weather. However, shortly before Siduri’s tenth birthday, his father was contacted by his older brother, Siduri’s uncle, with whom he had not spoken in almost fifteen years. His uncle, the somewhat notorious banker Ardashir Sasan, urged Siduri’s father, Zemai, to send the boy in for an initiation test to Brunnhold. Initially, Zemai was outraged by what he perceived as Ardashir’s condescension and flat-out refused. However, Ardashir managed to convince him otherwise. Since Zemai was rejected by the Sasans for being a passive, Ardashir had become active as an anonymous member of the Society for Passive Equality; if Siduri turned out to possess magical capabilities, Ardashir would be willing to fund his education.
Zemai agreed, and as it turned out, Siduri was admitted to Brunnhold with a score of 8.2. Ardashir kept his word, and that was the last time Siduri ever saw his father. Admission to Brunnhold marked a turning point in his life; he found himself amongst children his own age who had grown up accustomed to surroundings of comfort and luxury and privilege. He was deeply envious of them, and became determined to improve his own standing, regardless of what it might take. At first he was alternately teased mercilessly and ignored, and became even more self-conscious and insecure. However, in his second year, he began to talk back, and discovered the power of some well-placed harsh words. Through hard work, perfectionism, and just the right amount of haughtiness, Siduri gradually earned the respect of his classmates, re-crafting his image. Now, having just graduated, he is finding out that the real world is not quite so accommodating to his whims.
!!!Description:
Siduri’s grandfather was a prosperous merchant who took a wife from the Muluku Islands. Although he swore that she was a full-blooded galdor, and apparently had some sort of guarantee from her family, she was always treated warily by the rest of his grandfather’s relatives—a bit of a family embarrassment. From her, Siduri has inherited an unusually dark complexion, with light copper skin and black hair, just another aspect of himself which makes him self-conscious. The fact that he has thus far been unable to grow a beard doesn’t exactly help. He considers his bright green eyes to be the single saving grace of his olive complexion. All in all, his face is handsome with well-defined features—a long, straight nose and narrow-lipped mouth which is often curved up into an infuriating smirk or a haughty sneer. He wears his hair slightly long, pulled back into a short ponytail, and although his ears are pierced, he rarely wears earrings.
Siduri is slim, narrow-shouldered, and almost effeminate in his appearance, although anyone who dares mention the fact will receive a severe tongue-lashing in return. His hands and feet seem almost a bit too large for his lanky frame, but he manages to move with dignity and grace nonetheless. One of many things which he is very meticulous about is his appearance; all of his clothes are tailored and made of very fine materials. He prefers bright colors that compliment his complexion stunningly—after all, even if he is a bit dark, he might as well make the best of things. As he has no wealthy parents to support him, this often comes at the expense of more useful possessions.
!!!Personality:
To put it bluntly, Siduri is distinctly unpleasant. He is sarcastic, haughty, vain, and self-absorbed. To others, particularly humans, wicks and those he considers to be beneath him, he is extremely cold and scathing, throwing about pejorative terms freely. Ironically, he is particularly cruel in his treatment of passives, although he avoids them whenever possible. “Apology” is not a word in his vocabulary, unless he happens to be demanding one from others.
However, a great deal of Siduri’s less savory traits are a defense mechanism. He is very sensitive about his mixed heritage, his dark complexion, his delicate appearance (even for a galdor), and above all else, his parentage. Because he is so overly touchy about these facts, he is also quite insecure, and much of his rudeness is intended to disguise these insecurities. First and foremost, he assumes that others are acting primarily in their own self-interest, and never dreams that anyone would go out of their way to help him, much less befriend him.
!!!Inventory:
'''Clothing'''
* White shirt with slightly puffed long sleeves that button at the cuffs * Dark brown trousers * High, well-polished black boots * Saffron yellow, fitted, knee-length, sleeveless overcoat which fastens across the chest * White cravat
'''Misc'''
* Books—as many as he can get his hands on, regardless of genre. He sees them as a status symbol of sorts, and thinks they make him appear cultured. This is his other major expenditure beside clothes. However, he usually leaves them at home. * Pocket watch * Wallet
!!!Career:
'''Clerk'''
* fresh out of University * again due to lack of social standing, was shunted into what he considers an ignominious entry-level job * takes himself very, very seriously—particularly when at work * currently employed by a low-level politician
!!!Goals:
If Siduri had his way, he would erase the first ten years of his life from everyone’s memory, including his own. An ambitious young man, he wants a high-paying, important job as soon as he can get his hands on one—the sooner the better. He also seeks to avoid the company of non-galdori to the greatest extent possible, limiting himself to necessary associations whenever possible.
