!!!Backstory

Vicka has always lived in the city. Although she herself is a tsat, she is also the daughter of a Yellow Eye healer, Satcher Vanmoor, and a human woman, Ann. She was born and raised in Vienda. Her childhood was equal parts squalor and contentment, growing up in the Soot District with her two brothers, Tharc and Harry. She has fond memories of her childhood despite the hard times.

Her mother worked long factory hours and eventually died of consumption when Vicka was about the age of fifteen. Rather than see his children suffer the same fate, Satcher joined up with a nomadic fringe group of Yellow Eyes. Vicka, at this time, was already established as a maid in a small inn, the Little Bell, operated by her husband at the time, a human named Calvin Eskett. She bid her father and brothers goodbye and looked forward to their yearly visit.

Vicka called her husband Cal and although he was over ten years older than her, they were known to be a contented couple that rarely fought. Cal was a bit of a philosopher, and though he did not have a permit, Cal could read and he taught a bit to Vicka. Between what Vicka learned from her father and what she could pick up from her copy of the Almanac, Vicka became a fairly decent healer, although she had little use for the other magic and is unpracticed in other areas. Cal and Vicka were sympathetic to the Resistance, and the Little Bell more than once sheltered an injured freedom fighter.

When Vicka was twenty, her husband was arrested by the Seventen for possession of reading materials, although it was clear that it was for his rebel activities. Vicka fled into the wick community. Cal never returned to her and the Little Bell was closed. It is now a different inn.

Vicka was one of the many wicks affected by the banishment of wicks from Vienda; she was able to get a writ of residence under her maiden name, Vanmoor. She works out of her tiny flat as a healer, seeking out jobs of odd work when money gets tight. She keeps her head low, even though she has never lost her Resistance sympathies.

!!!Personality

Vicka goes with the flow. She is easy-going and friendly, and very rarely flustered by anything. She is known to speak slowly though carelessly, often saying things that are true but a little awkward, and tends to point out the obvious elephant in the room. This skill is actually quite useful in her daily life with patients that are reluctant to discuss how what-got-where-and-why.

She still misses her husband, but has already finished grieving for him. What’s gone is gone; she never expects to see him again. She has made peace with that, even if there will always be a part of her that wonders if he is still living.

Vicka enjoys having a wide range of acquaintances and loves company. When she has extra money it is spent on drinking with her friends. She tends to sing and dance while drunk, and though she does neither very well, it is done with great enthusiasm. She hates having to go home alone afterward, especially to a cold bed, so she often goes home with new friends to keep her company.

Although Vicka is a healer, she claims that she is a maid of allworks of this place or the other, and on occasion this is even true. She is open with other wicks about her profession and most humans; however she avoids the Seventen like the plague, both hating and fearing them.

She feels torn between her life as a tsat and family. Although she is a city girl, life in Vienda is getting harder and harder; she wonders if it wouldn’t be easier to find her father and brothers in the Yellow Eyes and rejoin them. She hasn’t seen them in two years, and doesn’t dare send them a letter, even if they could read it.

!!!Physical Description

Vicka, like many witches, isn’t shy about her displaying her wares, although she is comparatively low-key. Her hair is naturally a reddish-brown, but she bleaches it white, leaving only a fringe in front her real color. From her mother she inherited her substantial figure, although she is no taller than five foot. She is best described as “round all around.” She is definitely not a tumbling sort of wick. She has a darker olive complexion, with no freckles but three small moles, two on one cheek and one on the other. Her eyes are dark brown.

Since her sewing skills are limited, she has the same work dress in four different fabrics. She wears the colorful one over a long-sleeved white chemise and floating sleeves of matching the overdress. She wears a frilled white-ish apron over all of these and her husband’s coat in bad weather. When she goes out on the town, she wears something decidedly less matronly.

She keeps her husband’s brass ring, a family heirloom of his, around her neck on a chain, and trades out heavy earrings between her friends.

hey kel, this is a lovely sheet. Well written. I'm happy to go ahead and approve with a small edit - early adulthood in this time period, especially for a wick, would be around 12 or 13. they started young back then. once you've edited that, you're good to go darl!

Aha, ADULThood in wicks is around 15-16ish...early adulthood to me is around 12-13. Kinda like in our society 25 is adult, 18 is early adulthood. Eitherway, good to go!
