Matsi climbed slowly up the valley wall toward the wall along the ridge. She paused and looked back, seriously considering going home. She didn't feel like being out, and things were so cold... and rainy... She wasn't even certain there would be any sunset to see.

But I have promised... She snorted like a horse before the gate. It was not in derision to Aronel, but a huff at the fact that she didn't want to be there. She wanted to be home.

Needless to say, Matsi was on a downswing. As such, she wanted to be home with her family, not trudging up the valley. Not that the walk was difficult-- she had run this same path like it was nothing-- but she felt so... sedate. Her body felt abnormally weighted, and she dragged her feet in the depressive sensation. Her piikii leaped off her shoulder to scamper up ahead of her.

She finally reached the wall with a sigh, climbing the last flight of steps to the top as if it was the beginning of a steep mountain climb. When she reached the top, she leaned absently against the low barrier, hardly noting the sun's position, juxtaposed between the cloud cover and earth as it was in a sea of orange droplets and drizzle. She sighed, looking at her wrapped feet rather than keeping an eye out for Aronel.

Aronel walked along a path well known to her, her head held high; the uter confidence with which she held herself as she made her way to her destination might have fooled any who did not know her into thinking she could see as well as any other. It was with a practiced sort of ease that she followed along the worn path, the hard warmth of the rain-wet stones guiding her feet, along with the gentle rustling of leaves as wind touched the leaves of trees and the sound bouncing subtly off the objects around her, giving her a mental picture of her surroundings. Where she could not rely on her four working senses, she had Hurteth at her side, growling warnings on the odd occasions in which warnings were required.

She was not long before the wall, she knew both by sense and sheer memory. When she made the short distance to the wall, Aron took to the steps lightly, reaching the top and tilting her head slightly this way and that, listening for the sound of another wick's breathing, then wandered up to the nearest person she heard, "Matsi...?"

Matsi looked up at her sightless friend, "Greetings," she said with a lackluster air, not bothering to shift her hackneyed bangs from her eyes.

She held a hand out for Hurteth to sniff.

"Are you well?" She asked with the same pale tone.

Hurteth sniffed Matsi's hand and snorted a huff of breath that might have been a strange mix of contempt and hesitant, grudging acceptance before sitting back at Aronel's heels.

"I am well, Matsi," Aron smiled, then tilted her head, "But what of you? Are you not well? You sound a bit stressed." She reached out and found the low barrier of the wall, leaning against it carefully, her eyes staring sightlessly in the general direction in which she'd estimated Matsi's eyes to be. She scratched Hurteth behind the ears absently as she waited for Matsi's reply.

"I am..." she sighed, tugging absently at her clothes, "Tired. Worn out. I get... down, sometimes..."

She inhaled deeply through her nose and released it in a huff of mist in the cool wet air.

"I must be honest with you and tell you that I did not feel... I barely wished to come."
