(H10, 22 o'clock) A rapping at the office door (Aussie)
The sterling white that made up the infirmary looked as though it was made to be in stark contrast to the dirty, red bricks that made up everything else. He was astonished on how little it had changed. The linens looked as though they were the same ones he lied on, the tile still had the same scuff marks, and even the light penetrated the windows the same way.

After swallowing everything the library could throw at him, Algernon saw himself ready to go to the Head Healer of the infirmary and see what she could offer him. Algernon had spent the last seven hours in the library, reading up on everything it had to do with Healing. His mind felt like it was about to explode, that was the signal that he had learned everything.

The late afternoon sun made Algernon’s already light hair look quite brilliant, it perfectly contrasted his skin. Making his way to the Head Healer’s office, he passed a brunette with a bun. She was writing something, he was going to ask her if the healer was busy, but she looked quite busy; he didn’t want to disturb her.

Standing at the office door was more intimidating than meeting Alioe herself. He stood there for about a minute, he didn’t want to be turned away. After exhaling and realizing that if he was turned away he could just go back to studying, he quickly knocked.

The head healer was a flighty woman, with curly orange hair that she tried to tame under a nurses hat, but it stuck out wildly in wirey loops streaked with grey. Her yellow eyes were wide and alert, and she always looked as though she might suddenly have a nervous breakdown...possibly between the Siordanti boy and his conquests..she might!

Glancing up from her desk, covered in paperwork and medical texts, she called out in a brisk voice.

"Yes, come in! Please tell me there hasn't been another incident in the Cafeteria, oh Alioe...I might just drown under that paperwork!"

An acknowledgement rang throughout the small hallway connecting the healer's office to the main part of the infirmary. Her voice seemed to ring in his ears for years before he opened the door. Algernon finally opened the door, his heart racing to new extremes; and after learning what that could do to somebody, he wished it would stop. Algernon had stood in the door way, not wanting to move any closer. The poor little healer looked like her heart could give out at any sign of calamity.

"Hello, I'm Algernon Aynesworth." The Hessean's voice was trembling slightly. For someone so big, he was rubbish under pressure. It's a wonder he passed any of his exams. "I'm here to apply for a position in the infirmary." Algernon said no more. This woman scared him tons, probably because she held his fate in her hands.

The redhead looked at him for a moment with a dazed expression, blinking once or twice, before shaking her self and chuckling.

"Oh right! A position in the infirmary! Sorry I just blanked out for a moment there. Right, I er...here, why don't you take a seat." She moved around the desk and removed the medical texts from the chair before her.

"There isn't anything permenant going at the moment, but we are looking for assistants in the wing. So many students seem to be hellbent on blowing each other up!" The healer said sternly, before giggling slightly hysterically and returning to her chair. Sitting straight and lacing her fingers, she smiled at Algernon.

"So, er...Mister...er...Aynesworth. What experiance do you have in- Oh sorry, I should have said, my name is Healer Miranda Learch. What experiance do you have in the area of healing? Cookie?" She held out a box of handmade biscuits from her desk.

Algernon paced over to his chair quickly; his lumbering steps echoing slightly throughout the room. He could hear the chair squeaking slightly when he sat; he was a man designed to work in mines or fields, but magic was his calling. He liked knowing that he always had an aid when things took a turn for the worse, he had the mona. And with the little helpers of the world, he would heal anything that came his way, within reason of course.

"Oh! Thank you," He said, reaching for a biscuit. "I've never been offered food on any interview before, it's a nice change of pace." He chuckled, awkwardly. The biscuit had the appearance of a scone, there were tiny raisins placed randomly throughout. Algernon quickly chewed off almost half of it, he hadn't eaten since before the library and he sure was hungry. "Yum, these are quite delectable, thank you so very much." Tiny crumbs fell from his mouth to his lap and the floor.

"Well, Healer, I have had quite a few experiences wear I was called to heal someone at parties or other small gatherings. You would be surprised how easy it is for things to take a turn for the worst...actually...you might." He chuckled again. "Also, when I attended this fine university, my courses consisted of either the fields of Living magic and Sciences or political classes. Both stroke my fancy, but it seems healing is what I want to proceed in doing. I spent the last seven hours in the library going over the whole anotamy and healing section, needless to say, my head still hasn't stopped ringing."

Miranda tittered as the chair creaked, looking the man up and down.

"Well now aren't you just ginourmous!" Taking a biscuit for herself, she listened to him as he spoke, nodding here and there and giving off a hysterical sounding titter in the right places.

"Its good that you've been reading, books hold more than people realise. So uh..is this...hmm...something you've...excuse me...wanted to do for a while? Healing?" She had moved from her chair and had a dustpan and brush, sweeping up the little crumbs and tipping them in the waste bin. If Algernon looked around, he might have noticed everything was very very VERY clean...almost as though Miranda was obsessivly clean.

Algernon's golden eyes followed the small woman as she pranced around the room with her dustpan. He moved his feet when she went to the clean the crumbs on the floor. Being disrespectful was hard for Algernon, but this healer's excessive cleanliness made him want to laugh.

"Uh...yes. Healing, I plan on being a healer till the day I die." He smirked at the obvious answer. Of course he was going to be a healer for a long time, it's one of those professions you don't leave. "It is such a wonderful sensation, healing someone, I'm surprised I didn't try to become a healerwhen I graduated. My mind was preoccupied with other things, but now I believe I have found my calling."

Algernon sat their fiddling with his fingers. The interview was going along smoothly, but he couldn't help but be nervous.

Miranda dusted off her hands as she returned to her desk, nodding.

"Yes, healing is a curious profession sometimes. You might not even know you can heal until such a time that you are forced too. Then suddenly BAM!" She whacked the table and giggled hysterically.

"Your hooked." Clearing her throat, she tittered again and laced her fingers together.

"Well..uh...I can offer you a term based role as an assistant healer, and then I would assess you when the semester ends. You would do things like assist the healers when they work, bring them what they need...keep the infirmary clean - hygenically so, not just neat - uh what else...if we have students in with very minor complaints, you would work on them. In the meanwhile you would be assessed and if your found to be..uh...adiquete, we will look into further training in the new semester." The red head smiled with a small titter.

"What do you think?"

Algernon's heart sank into the pit of his stomach and then sprang up into his throat. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped, was this really happening to him? He would finally be able to do what his heart longed for, he would help people.

"This is perfect!" Algernon's exclamation could be heard throughout the chambers. "I wasn't expecting anything more! My dreams are finally coming to fruition! Oh, I am so sorry. It's quite possible the students in their dormitories are able to hear my yells of joy." His face was in an utter state of astonishment. "So, Healer Learch, when do you think I may start? As soon as possible?"

Algernon wished his parents and everyone he ever met could be present at this momentous moment.

Miranda laughed her hysterical little laugh, happy at Algernon's enthusiasm.

"Well, uh, you will have to give me a few days to set things up and register you accordingly. I would say, be here on the fifteenth, bright and early!" With another laugh, she nodded to him.

"Don't celebrate to hard, I wouldn't want to have to treat you for alcohol poisioning so soon after meeting you."
