 Slim Steve Marsh
'''Name:''' Slim Steve Marsh '''Age:''' 46 '''Race:''' wick '''Place of Origin:''' Vienda
!!!Backstory:
Slim is the product of an illicit affair between a human musician, Ardiz Marsh, and a prominent galdori composer, Christoff Fenkierdan. Ardiz was a promising cellist in Christoff’s chamber orchestra. Christoff was a celebrated older composer who thought he could get away with a little “thing on the side”. The affair became public knowledge due to the machinations a jealous musical rival. Christoff lost his status and went on to obscurity playing various venues touring wherever he could manage. Ardiz stayed in Vienda and raised her son as reputably as possible. Among human musicians it wasn’t such a big shame- especially considering the sympathy she received at having been “abandoned” by the father. Steve spent most of his childhood as an errand runner, instrument tuner and generally assistant to Vienda’s musical community. He learned composition, musical literacy and studied just about all forms of music and musical instruments. He was likely to become a celebrity on his own talents. However, the apple did not fall far from the tree. In his twenties, he began an affair with a wealthy, galdor “patron of the arts” – Nathaniel Tinabiel. Nathaniel kept Steve in the shadows, afraid of the effect on his social status should the relationship become common knowledge. The pair collaborated on many new compositions, and Steve was content to let his lover enjoy the spotlight. It was during this time that he developed an interest in magic and convinced Nathaniel to tutor him in proper spell use. Unfortunately, these lessons brought the wrath of Nathaniel’s uncle, Magister Tinabiel. A marriage was arranged and Nathaniel was forbidden any further contact with “those slum influences.” Steve was crushed: he had thought his love would choose him over the comforts of family wealth. There were also professional ramifications. He lost his job and a campaign of rumor-mongering made sure that no one in polite society would ever consider hiring him. Of course none of his brilliant compositions were credited in his name so there were no royalties or commissions to compose… Steve was able to eke out a modest living fixing and tuning instruments and sitting in for sets with other musicians. He did own a small home – a gift from his otherwise absent father. Perhaps the disillusioned half-breed would have made more of himself, but he took to drinking and (for a time at least) wallowing in self-pity to the exclusion of any creative endeavors. Later he developed a small following – using the stage alias “Slim” - as an occasional “guest performer” in various venues and was able to maintain a comfortable stream of income to pay for his bad habits. Recent history had been less kind. The Tinabiel clan had kept track of the “slum-blooded seducer” and was quick to pay off the Seventen to ensure that Slim was one of the first city wicks to be evicted and have his property confiscated. Having lived his entire life within the confines of Vienda, and having little traffic with spokes culture, Slim finds himself having to search for a new place in the world.
!!!Personality:
Sort of a “gentle giant”, Slim’s personality has evolved from a somewhat cavalier and carefree youth through a more thoughtful and socially conscious adulthood. Recent years have seen him slip into more reclusive habits, despite the need for a keeping enough of a public presence to draw an audience. A quick wit and comedic sense of his youth have transformed into a penchant for cynical, biting commentaries and self-deprecatory humor – mostly reserved for his onstage persona. He feels that life has dealt him a bad hand, but takes responsibility for his own decisions and where they have led him. He is a bottom-of-the-bottle philosopher.
!!!Physical Description:
Tall, lanky even by human standards, Slim physically dominates any stage he sets foot on. The reason for his nickname is obvious, as there’s not a lot of meat on his big frame. While Slim was nobly handsome in his youth, his face has softened with age and with the drink. Yet there is still a wild sparkle in his clear blue eyes. His long grey hair is kept back in a ponytail: when it gets loose it tends to shoot out wildly in every direction. Slim’s movements tend to be gentle and quiet, but the loud bass of his voice is anything but – echoing out to easily fill whatever room he enters. It often draws attention whether or not he wishes. His clothing regularly marks him as a city wick, although he does have one or two outfits meant to draw attention while performing.
!!!Inventory:
Cart: Generic looking and slightly rickety as it was bought on the fly when Slim was tossed out of his home. Equipped with various wood and metal working tools and chemicals useful in building/maintaining musical instruments. Lots of musical “spare parts”. Two violins in excellent condition, one cello that has seen better days.
Kenser named Jimmy.
!!!Career
Musician *Can play almost any instrument *Singing. Repertoire of both galdori and human standards. *Instrument Repair/Retouching Skills *Composition, and some small skill with lyrics.
Magic *Galdori level one Perceptive spells only *No knowledge of spokes magic
!!!Goals *Although Slim feels he will never know great love again, he would still like to find some sort of family and some way of passing along his music to future generations. *Survival

 Re: Slim Steve Marsh
Re: Magic I'm happy to edit it out if you think it'd be a balance problem. I thought the knowledge might be fun in the sense that it could make him a target of some not-so-nice witches or whatnot.

 Re: Slim Steve Marsh
Regarding level one spells, they would not be as powerful or as reliable as galdori magic, but there's nothing stopping him from attempting them if he does know them. Trial and error, however, would have probably made him cautious; any caster attempting spells above his skill level is risking severe backlash. Just a warning I like this guy. He has an interesting backstory, very scandalous! You're approved Go have fun.
