Dear Madame,

After due consideration and considerable sober reflection I am, and if your ladyship will excuse a certian presumptuousness upon my part, pleased to inform you that I have chosen to accept your most interesting offer to enter into your employ in the capacity as your political secretary, chief clerk, and general agent and man of business. I will therefore be resigning my position at the Archives and finishing my business with that esteemed institution as speedily as is practicable.

I fully expect that the conclusion of my tenure at the Archives will be completed within the week, barring any unlooked-for complications. The present being a comparatively slow time in my particular department I do not foresee such complication arising, but it is best to acknowledge that mysterious difficulties do have a distressing tendency to arise out of nowhere. From that time forward, I will be entirely at your disposal. If at any time you need to put yourself in contact with me, to perhaps convey some vital piece of information or to bring to my attention any detail or particular, a note delivered to the Pendulum Club will reach me, as will any communication sent to my attorneys at Shrikeweed, Wockett, and Plenge.

To the Esteemed Master Basil Ambrose Shrikeweed

Dear Sir,

I am greatly pleased to hear that you have accepted my offer, and I am now in the process of procuring your new place (and possibly places) of employment. Take all the time you need and/or desire to arrange and settle your affairs – as I have no prior engagements, I will wait until you are ready. I will, however, come to call sometime on the 20th in order to give you a proper tour of your new offices – and not to worry, the doors shall have the brightest, most stately brass nameplates money can purchase. I will give you plenty of time to choose your own staff, and make any wanted or necessary modifications to your future surroundings – no sense in keeping furnishings that you cannot abide. If you have any special requests on the matter, please be sure to send me a note stating thusly.

Once again, I am very pleased that you have decided on this. You have made an excellent choice, my boy, and I am confident you not will find yourself in regret at any point in time. If I can claim to have any intuition at all, I would boldly say that this partnership will be a very beneficial one to the both of us. It will also be more so for the good of Vienda, and hopefully Anaxas as a whole; we are the seed of a plan to bring this land back to its former peace and glory. Of that I am quite sure.
