!!!Backstory:

Jake Devaney, a mute from birth, was arrested after failing his initiation test. While in Brunhold, he worked as a teaching assistant to a technology professor and learned much in the way of inventing. When the professor took Jake on a field test to the mountainous region of Hox, Jake escaped into a nearby forest, sick of living in slavery and never knowing anything of the outside world. He eventually found himself at the base of a mountain, and decided that climbing the mountain would give him a better view of the landscape.
Once he was up high enough, Jake was able to spot a small village close by. As he was pondering whether or not he should take his chances with the village, a wild chrove ambushed him, biting him hard on his left arm. The intense pain activated Jake’s dormant magical ability, and an insanely strong Push spell propelled the chrove away from Jake faster than the speed of sound, taking his arm as well.
Severely wounded, Jake made his way to the small village, finding that it was primarily populated by humans, as well as a few wicks, one of which was a healer. The healer was able to close up the wound, leaving Jake with only his right arm.
Fed up with his Phantom Limb Syndrome, Jake has begun work on a mechanical left arm to be grafted onto his shoulder upon its completion. He also uses the nickname “Riot” because he thinks it sounds cool.
At this time, he is currently looking for somewhere to work as well as a place to live.

!!!Personality:

Jake is a good guy who sympathizes with the human resistance. He is reluctant to get into fights, and does not respond well to failure. He enjoys relaxing and inventing, but does not enjoy the work he must do to support his hobby. He fears being alone in unfamiliar areas and often tries not to venture into crowded areas unless he really needs to, mostly because of the unpredictability of his dormant magic ability. He often tries to scratch his “phantom limb,” only to find that there’s nothing there. He’s hard-working only when he wants to be, but makes the journey to work at his job at the tavern in order to buy materials for his arm. He’s an honest guy and has a nice sense of humor, though he can’t truly laugh. He’s quite intelligent, but doesn’t flaunt it. Since he can’t talk and doesn’t know standard sign language, he tries to communicate with gestures and, when that fails, he has a pad of paper and pen that he writes on to communicate.

!!!Physical Description:

Jake has short, messy, brown hair and gray eyes. He has a medium build, not necessarily in shape but not unhealthy looking. He has paler than normal skin, but not as pale as one who has never ventured outside since the day they were born. He always wears a long brown coat and pins up the sleeve of the arm he lost, a green shirt, dark blue pants, a pair of work boots, and carries around a messenger bag full of blueprints for his mechanical arm, a pad of paper, and a pen.
