 Leam Ichabod
'''Name:''' Leam Ichabod (Lee-yam Ick-a-bod)
'''Age:''' 24
'''Race:''' wick
'''Place of Origin:''' (Unknown)
'''Occupation:''' Hunter/Street Performer

!!!Backstory

Leam had grown up constantly traveling in a caravan of various performers and traders. His childhood was a simple, yet happy one, as he was cared for by his fellow wicks in a large caravan. He lived freely and got into all sorts of trouble as a young lad, playing tricks on the girls as well as getting tricked himself. His childish charm allowed him to befriend others easily, so it was never a challenge talking to new kids. At the age of eleven, he was already skilled at 'disappearing acts' and had gained himself something of a reputation among the kids. He had then been given the nickname "Dusty" for his quick and cunning getaways, but the name had long since died when Leam started jumping from caravan to caravan, in search for tribes who would take him in and teach him of their ways.

Leam had never seen his mother, though his wick father had cared for him until he passed away just as Leam turned fifteen-- in what he figured was an accident involving Hatchers. The death of his father was very hard on him, but his family amongst the caravan made bearing the sadness easier than it could have been.

Wanting to know more about all his people's culture, he started traveling on his own at the age of sixteen. He would wander with caravans until he came across a nomadic tribe that would accept him. Throughout his travels, he had been made accustomed to different wick lifestyles, trying his hand at odd jobs such as farming, hunting, and even Horse training. Although he familiarized himself with a tribes culture, Leam would usually migrate to another caravan or tribe after a few months.

Traveling with different kinds of wicks had given Leam an idea as to what his strengths and his weaknesses were. Having completely failed at most jobs, he found that he had a love for Hunting and that he was graced with a decent singing voice. He discovered that he has a fondness for birds and would sing to them as he went about the forest in search for game. Leam's strange attachment to these winged creatures brought him to acquire a Moa through barter. He then used this creature, which he named "Maia", in his travels.

Leam enjoyed what Anaxas had to offer and spent most of his time familiarizing himself with the local culture. He adored the rich, green fields and the many climbable trees there were. Not long after he acquired Maia, Leam had then come across a friendly, young male Whice which he then named "Phoebus". Shortly after gaining his two companions, Leam spent most of his time with the Falling Stone tribe, watching their amazing performances, and sometimes participating in them himself. It was there he made a good friend named Thall, who introduced him to an instrument called a Sitar. Thall taught Leam how to play the instrument, and although however horrible he would strike a note, Thall would correct him with a chuckle. It didnt take long for Leam to realize that he had fallen in love with the Sitar, and when he figured it out, he knew it would be a new burning passion of his. After nearly a year (the longest Leam had ever stayed with any single tribe) the two boys had formed a great friendship, tied together with their love for music. Before Leam left the Falling Stones, Thall taught him to play one last song, saying that it was a song to bring people together, as well as gift Leam his very own Sitar. It was a light color, made of the fairest wood and painted with a simple leaf design near the bottom. Leam and Thall's farewell was short, but even as Leam left their camp along with Maia and Phoebus, he continued to play the songs Thall taught him while the stars began to appear on the dusk sky. Even without Thall saying so, Leam knew that they would meet again. Surely, it was a day Leam would never forget.

Now made to feed two animals, He only barely earned enough through trade to feed himself and his only two constant companions. At times when he would be strapped for money, Leam would take his sitar out into a public place, perform (often while singing), and hope for generous tips to fall into his hat. Sometimes-- although rarely --other wicks would join him in performing and soon enough an entire band would form, inclusive of dancers.

!!!Personality

Leam is, if anything, an easy going guy who lives his life on the road. Just like his fellow wicks, he enjoys the life of travel, barter, and constant changes. As a young lad, he was quick to love as he was lovable, now as a young adult, Leam's heart has hardened slightly. (especially since the passing of his father) Nevertheless, Leam is still the mischievous and tricky boy he always was. Now that Leam is older, he's slightly flirtatious and can be a bit of a romantic at times.

He may not be as brilliant as a scholar, but Leam knows a few things about the world and has been taught by his fellow wicks as to how to speak, as well as some Tek slang. He doesn't have trouble speaking to others, but has a hard time understanding deep Tek. He knows how to understand meanings to songs and poems but his understanding of grammar is limited. Leam is always willing to learn new things, even if it isn't directly related to hunting or music. He sometimes wishes that he knew more about spelling, grammar and other things rich people think of as 'common knowledge'.

One bad habit of his is that he likes to collect things. Particularly, peculiar objects lying on the ground that he comes across during his travels. He hates parting with his 'treasures' and only gets rid of them when he is in dire need of money-- which tends to happen a lot.

He is practically a "Jack of all trades; Master of none", so he strives to better himself at the skills he's already good at. Namely, hunting, sitar-playing and singing. Leam does not seek fame or fortune, but only earns what he needs. At present, he has pretty accurate aim with his bow but is not consistent. He is also working to better himself with the Sitar; making up his own songs and practicing every night. Leam knows basic magic as well, such as: Fix, Lamp, Gust, Balance, Shroud and Purify. (which he mostly uses for hunting and survival)

!!!Physical Description

His constant travels have turned his skin a milky tan. Leam is tall for a wick and stands at a height of 5"9. His body is lithe and slightly muscular. Leam is quick and agile, unwilling to get into close encounters with his enemies, he uses a Bow to hunt and therefore has moderately strong arms. His eyes are so brown that they appear black and his hair is naturally black but dyed mostly white on the top most layer, medium in length and spiked at the sides with a little "hair-tail" at the back.

He has a young, handsome face that some women seem to go for. Leam usually dresses in colors of deep blue, forest green, or earthly colors. His only outfit is comprised of crudely sewn together pieces of numerous other outfits, with loose pants which he stuffs into his large boots. On days with bad weather, he dons a cloak and wears a pair of goggles to protect himself from the rain, snow, sand or anything else that may distract him whilst he traverses the land. Since he has no extra change of clothes, whenever he finds the time to bathe, it is the same day he does his laundry. Granted, traveling may do a number on a person's hygiene, Leam tries his best to keep himself clean.

*to marry a strong, beautiful woman, and settle down in a good tribe.

If a Sitar is unavailable, I'm very much willing to make it some other instrument. :]

Also, I'm sorry if its too.. long and boring-- and draggy. I worked on it all afternoon and the words are swirling around my mind now. x-x

Awesome! :D cant wait to hear from you.

Also, I notice that in some other sheets there's an extra section on my characters "career", but in the copy-paste version of the sheet it seems to have been omitted.

should I go add it in anyway?

Feel free to do so. It's usually used when someone has skills that pertain particularly to their career, but also have other skills that don't apply to it. It's just a way of qualifying their skill sets.

Wonderful. Thank you for letting me know!
I added a bit on his physical description, and got more in-depth as far as his Career is concerned.

Let me know if anything needs fixing, and I'll get to it right away! :]

Post Re: Leam Ichabod
Hi, Leam! Thanks for posting your sheet! We need you to take a look and make some edits before we approve you, though, so let's buckle down and take a look:

1) There really aren't Giorite wicks. Society in Gior is highly stratified: humans and galdori simply do not mix. There's really no room for development of a wicks in general.

2) In wick society, a person wouldn't be beaten for working hard. To them, every person counts, and every bit of work done is a bit of work done, no matter who is doing it. Also, children don't tend to beat up other children just for working hard.

3) Adulthood is very different in Anaxas when compared to our perspectives. At fifteen, a wick would already be expected to be a well-established contributor to the tribe. Everyone works to support the tribe from the moment they're able to lift a tool, play a chord, or count money.

Therefore, at 15, when his father died, he would have already shouldered the burdens of adulthood.

4) There seems to be some confusion in the sheet about literacy. Literacy is the ability to read and write, not one's ability to speak and comprehend language.

5) Your character lacks direction, which is a very difficult place to be, rp-wise. It could be very good or very bad. When you're early in your rp-career (even if it's just on a new site) it's usually better to start with a character who has some direction from the get-go.

6) Tribes aren't just about friends. They're about family. When a child is born in wick society, they aren't simply their father or mother's offspring-- they are the responsibility and issue of the tribe. Just because his father dies doesn't mean that he would immediately be outcast, unable to care for himself, etc. The tribe would have rallied about him to support him in his time of distress. He would have to have a major reason to leave the tribe perhaps some act of alienation.

Another aspect of Tribe-As-Family is that he would not be able to just jump in-and-out of tribes as he saw fit. Most would be wary of letting a wandering boy from another tibe just hop in amongst them. In fact, there are disputes between certain tribes that would practically prohibit them from allowing another from a certain other tribe.

His tribe-hopping doesn't seem to make any sense. Even if he were extremely curious or an explorer, he would need to stick around more than a week or two.

One possibility you might consider is having a wick that was born tsat but became curious of the life of spokes and decided to try to live the lifestyle of his people-- an act of going back to his roots, so to speak.

7)You should go through and review your grammar and punctuation. There are several places where you make common errors, "all the more easier and quicker" (all the more easily and quickly), "his homelands climate" (his homeland's climate), when Leam had started jumpingfrom caravan, to caravan" (when Leam started jumping from caravan to caravan), "pass-time" (pastime), etc.

While you're doing that, keep an eye out for your tense. There are a couple places where it switches to present.

I know it seems rough, but lots of players, even experienced ones, have a lot to clear up before their sheet is approved. Bump the thread when you've made your edits and we'll take another look!

Thanks for going through my sheet. :]

Guh, I'm so sorry for having so much mistakes. D: It must have been a pain to go through. Its hard for me to get my facts straight when its a Fantasy RP, hah. xD I should educate myself and read every page of the wiki.

Tried my best to catch and edit my grammar mistakes, also fixed his story a bit and tried to give him more 'direction' as a character by giving him a better goal.

Hope it's okay. :D

I've had a look over, and I like how you've edited the sheet. I can't see anything else that needs to be fixed. Unless Jade has anything else to add, I'm happy to approve Leam. :) Welcome to Thorns.
