READ ME - Transfer of Posts
Regarding the forum switch:
After finding a way to transfer all the posts and memberaccounts, I discovered a rather unpleasant fact - my server did not allow for a basic mySQL function (creating new database users) that most servers do, and so I was unable to use the converter to switch the posts.
Rather than simply ask you all to transition, I decided a compromise would be best. Myself and some volunteers are going to
manually transfer all active RP posts. What we will be doing is copying the text from each thread and manually inserting it into the new forum. Individual replies will be quoted with the author of the reply. Your thread will retain the same name and date as the original thread, and you should be able to pick up where you left off.
This process should take a while, but if you come onto chat, you can check the status of the move. If you would like to help, we would welcome it. Please see
this thread for details.
I apologize for the delay in posting; please be patient!
New Accounts:
You will need to sign up on the new forum,
http://thornsbook.com/rpg , with a
blanket account name (like your chat handle, or whatever you want to be your main identification). You may then create
subaccounts for each of your RP characters. Please use your character's
full name for each. If you make a mistake, don't worry, it's to be expected and we can fix it up later. I'm going to create a support sticky in the new forum's General Thorns section for any problems that arise.
It is not necessary to transfer your own character sheet or re-submit it through the character sheet form, but if you would like to, you may. This would make it easier to link to in your profile information and it would probably look nicer. We're going to continue archiving sheets on the wiki for now.
Please do not post excessively in the new forum or start your own threads up again until the move is complete. If you want to help, you can go into chat and ask about it. There is a thread up in the new forum regarding transfer jobs (
http://thornsbook.com/rpg/index.php?topic=19.new#new).
