!!!Backstory:
Born to a high-ranking politician in Vienda the oldest of three children, Nauleth was always under pressure to follow in his father's footsteps into aristocratic and governmental glory. He grew up in a competitive household, learning quickly to best his siblings in any way possible to win the attention from his busy parents, trying desperately for opportunities to travel with his father by aeroship. Approval and one-upping became an important part of his understanding of how the galdori world worked.

He scored rather average on his entrance exam to Brunnhold, mostly because he didn't apply himself in any part of the test that required his participation. He possesses a greater amount of magical potential than he was willing to apply himself to, simply because he was content to ride on his family's coat-tails into school.

Once a student, he quickly applied his competitive childhood in the classroom. Basically, he became a very effective and feared bully. While he maintained above average grades, especially in Quantitative and Static magic, he was often disciplined for his malice toward other students. He never really made friends, but croonies. He figured that's just how life was supposed to be.

Near the end of his 6th year, however, everything changed. While "dueling" (read: bullying) a particularly stubborn and magically talented boy from his class, he was forced to brail a spell when a professor appeared to break up the "fight." The spell backlashed terribly, paralyzing Naul completely and knocking him unconscious. When he awoke, the school doctors had managed to heal the damaged nerves of the left side of his face, but they still felt numb and slow to him. Some of his hair also turned white, leaving him with a stripe of colorless hair on the same side as his damaged nerves.

From that day, he knew that he could no longer be a bully. He quickly became the target of whispering disapproval, on the Lawn teasing, and practical jokes that lost him his "friends" and gave those he had bullied an opportunity for their own revenge.

He hasn't heard from his parents since the brailing accident, and is sure his father is furious. As far as he knows, he has ruined his future career entirely.

!!!Personality:
A shell of his former self, Naul was once a contemptuous but vibrant young bully, indiscriminate in his childish cruelty. Since the backlash from brailing accident, he has become brooding, defensive, and quite introverted. All energy for bullying seems to have drained from him completely. If he speaks at all, it is when spoken to (usually in class, especially Quantitative and Static classes). Having either lost his "friends" or completely isolated himself from everyone else in fear of being made fun of for what he believes are glaring imperfections in his appearance from his accident, he has thrown himself into his studies with the passion he once reserved for making others miserable.

Where he was once aggressive and never one to shy away from a fight, he is still unafraid to take up a duel, if only to defend what little pride he can muster. Inside, he longs for acceptance, which is really what led him to be a bully in the first place. He has the potential to be caring, but he's never particularly had a reason to be kind. Instead of his accident turning him more malicious, it may have softened his edge a bit but he has no real social skills or encouragement to deal with the change.

At two years from graduating, he's torn and indecisive about his future, but keeps that totally inside, appearing to his teachers to be quite attentive and interested in furthering his education.

!!!Physical Description:
Average height and athletically slim (he has found a little personal solace in running/jogging; it's helped him find an outlet for some of his aggression), Naul once considered himself quite the handsome prize. Dark, almost-black hair with rich reddish undertones, sharp aristocratic features, warm brown eyes rimmed with the typical golden hue, and a dashing smile were all he figured he needed to make a good name for himself in politics or law.

While it's probably only noticeable if one were to watch for it, the left side of Naul's face is somewhat slower, with the corner of his mouth and his left eyebrow not reacting in time with his facial expressions; and his left eye blinking a few milliseconds after his right. He has decided it's terribly obvious and has chosen to hide it with his hair purposefully worn over that side of his face. (Heh. Think emo, perhaps.)

The same face that once made him unforgettable and feared is now half-hidden behind purposefully long, shaggy bangs with shoulder-length hair that is only pulled back when requested by a teacher. It just so happens that the same side has a strikingly white stripe of hair, which he could dye if he thought it would make a difference. Since everyone in his class, and probably others, already knows, he's not bothered to do so. The other side of his hair is usually tucked behind his ear, or left to fall about his face as well when he's not paying attention.

Other than that, he has a penchant for leaving his uniform overcoat unbuttoned, much to the displeasure of his teachers.

!!!Inventory:

On his person:
*leather-bound notebook of spell notes, random Quantitative math projects, etc.

!!!Career
Student
*Very strong understanding of Quantitative magic
*Excellent with Static magic, but mostly because he studies a lot on his own.
*Artistic potential (he likes sculpting with Static magic, it's kind of another outlet)
*Intimidating (knows how to make little girls cry)
*Can hold his liquor in the Stacks

!!!Goals
He's very much at risk of wasting his life after graduation, but he really chooses not to notice. He doesn't have the vicious ambition to become a politician or a lawyer anymore, which he knows will only further compound the disapproval of his parents.

He also has no desire of running into his siblings in the halls - he avoids them at all costs because he knows he'll just give them an opportunity to exact their revenge.

Update: May consider teaching. Way down the line. It's an inkling of thought in the back of his mind, loath as he is to spend too much time around large numbers of students.
