!!!Backstory:

Born Joseph Harrison Abernathy to Whitney and Ashton Abernathy, Joseph always seemed to express a certain aptitude for trouble. As a crawling infant, he commonly out-foxed his human nurse and tore at draperies and table cloths in his desire to figure out what lay atop them. Ever a stubborn child, he was well known about the household for being hard to deal with and willful. Most of this development was caused by the lacking presence of his parents as there was always some this or that social function to head off to. He understood little of what his parents ever did, and mostly kept himself to himself in their massive mansion in Vienda. Often he'd even escape the confines of those ornate walls and out into the wilds of Vienda, getting a small taste of the rest of the world, even if he was far too young to understand it.

His tenth year rolled around, feeling as bright and free as the year before, like the soft smell of dust motes in his nose. There seemed to be nothing different about it until his supposedly developing field was put to the test. He didn't entirely understand why a 0 was so bad, nor could he comprehend why he was being sent away from parents who would no longer look at him. The logic made no sense to 10 year old Joseph, who bit and kicked as he was taken to face the rest of his life behind the red sandstone walls of his prison. Brunnhold.

His willfulness never left him, and in the rigors of Brunnhold, it manifested into a seething anger and resentment towards all galdori. The detached back of his mind wonders if his parents' negligence of their son, their fixation with dumping him off with human nurses, had anything to do with his lack of magical ability. Perhaps he was tainted? Crippled by something other than the mona? He would like to think so, but his logical sense knows that he was born into this curse from the beginning. Joseph has never left the campus since he was taken into the fold of servants and his myriad of back scars will tell why. He's not lived a very "passive" existence in his captivity. Always one for retaliation in whatever form possible, Joseph has been beaten often for insolence, and being tied up in the confinement of a basement has become a relatively usual spot for him in his 9 years.

Joseph is still hungry for more. The visions of those short years he spent escaping from home and running about Vienda still follow him and give him a shred of light to cling to even in the dark of a basement. The richness of the world is out there, he knows, and he hungers for it even more as he approaches his 10 year of servitude.

!!!Personality

Anger has festered blisters down deep in Joseph's mind and there they sit. Never popped, but merely prodded. If they'd been popped, perhaps his anger wouldn't have festered into the malicious and sadistic nature of his person. Joseph has been known to contemplate the most vicious ideas: snipping a human gardener’s hamstrings with hedge sheers, closing a heavy book to break a little galdor girl's fingers, ramming a broom head into a teacher's stomach and cracking his head on the floor. However, he's never acted on such ideas, only contenting himself with verbal impudence and petty thievery. He knows the things he ponders could earn him a short drop and a sudden stop, or, even worse, a small and dingy cell never touched by light. Though he's yet unsure of the idea of consequences has kept him at bay thus far, or if it's merely his own skewed idea of self-restraint. Good and Bad are not strong and solid entities in Joseph's mind, but What is Profitable, and What is Not, most certainly are. True friendship is an alien idea to him, as is loyalty, trust, and teamwork. For the most part, Joseph is a cold individual who speaks little kindness, smiles infrequently and never genuinely, and constantly glares out with his vengeful blue eyes. He holds many of the other passive servants with a particular sense of disgust, finding the meek ones to be spineless and cowardly. He predictably loathes all galdori. The topic of humans and wicks, though, he holds a certain interest in. Joseph hardly finds them equals by any stretch, but they do own something that he wants. He sees them as curious novelties; little things with little lives to be studied.

!!!Physical Appearance

Had Joseph ever made his way into Brunnhold wearing green instead of blue, it is safe to predict that he might have occupied the conversations of many flighty galdor girls. It's a true irony that a passive would have the looks to epitomize the aristocratic glador. High cheeks and artfully arched eyebrows contain ice blue eyes. His straight nose has an arrogant bearing of its own and his full lips are often cured in the beginnings of a sneer. Pale skin makes his obsidian hair stand out considerably and have caused some to question weather his heritage is actually Bastian. He carries himself with the ram-rod straightness and arrogance of a student but with the bitten down rage of the servant that he is. Jagged lash marks make a basket weave across his back and tell a long history of either rage or masochism. A particularly thin scar pulls up from the edge of his chin and twisting the corner of his lips so that he appears to be smirking even when completely stone serious.

!!!Diablerie
Unknown

!!!Inventory
*Modest assortment of servant’s outfits
*Small wooden box containing the following:
*A blue clockwork windup mouse
*A few tallies of collected loose change

!!!Skills

Brunnhold Servant
*Relatively good at sweeping
*Good at walking softly and going unnoticed
*Mediocre dish washing skills
*Horrid at sewing
*Fair mopping talents

!!!Goals

Joseph would immensely enjoy cutting the throats of those who keep him prisoner, and the idea of tearing down Brunnhold stone by stone is incredibly appealing, though to call these "goals" in Joseph's mind would be presumptuous. For now, Joseph is far more interested in picking and prodding at the gladori, becoming enough of a nuisance to the school as to tempt them to just throw him out into the world. He often entertains the notion of his diablerie setting off violently whilst in the company of a host of students or professors, but he realizes, with his luck, his diablerie would be something to the tone of "growth".
