(L21, 16oc) Lunch Break (Open)
Quote:
Crosstown Court is the central hub of Vienda society. It is used as a public meeting place, a theater for speeches by public officials, and is the official location for each year's Clock's Eve celebration. This wide circular courtyard is surrounded by shops, mostly selling clothing and other goods made in the factories downtown. Underfoot, the cobblestones look relatively new, as though they were recently installed; the central fountain is gleaming, with hardly a trace of rust or aging. Atop the fountain is a statue of King Romelius II on blackback.
Throughout the court, several street performers can be seen entertaining small groups of people. There are jugglers, musicians, and acrobats; occasionally, wicks will show up with their special brand of flashy magic to entertain groups of humans, though they are often shooed away by the Seventen. Every first of the week, a local band called Off The Path plays a gig in Crosstown Court, to the delight of most and the annoyance of some.
Algernon was taking a lunch break in Crosstown Court. He had not been to the court in almost a month, his days had been taken up by the case and his career in general. He wanted to get away from it all, but he needed to make money. He couldn't make money without working.
He strolled around the court just taking in the air, listening to Off The Path in the background. He liked their music, it wasn't his favorite, but it was bearable. The leas singer did annoy him though, almost always shirtless. Someone should never be bare chested in polite society, well that was what Algernon thought anyway.
