Loshis 21st, 2712.
It was on the fifteenth of Loshis that the first wick caravan arrived through the dissipating mist.
Seven wicks and witches, bound and gagged, were brought before Durg Solexa, but they did not remain in Roekshir for long. By mid-morning they had been released and greeted by all the Durgs, recognized as fellow wicks, the nomadic branches that had long lost contact with Anhau. But the Anhai people were amazed at the technology these wicks had with them: their leader's pocket watch, the modern spectacles on a woman, their tools and devices. Even their kensers were a new, modern breed, unknown to the Anhai. These newcomers were strange and alien, with brightly colored hair and clothing, so unlike the plain and simple Anhai wicks.
Soon, other tribes appeared, as though summoned by some unknown force to the same area. Several small offshoots of tribes such as the Yellow Eye and the Red Crow have come across Anhau over the last few days, leaving their carts behind in copses of trees and approaching cautiously on foot. There were also representatives from Deep Water, Laughing Sky, and even Black Hand, scouts sent by the Durgs once they had learned of the hatchers' exodus.
The townspeople are agog at these new visitors, and the nomadic wicks even more so; they each feel as though they have stepped into another world. Though they speak the same language, the Anhai wicks have an archaic accent, and communication is somewhat difficult. It took some time for the discussion of magic to crop up, so interested were these nomads in discovering the life of the Anhai wicks, but once it did, they were amazed to learn of the strange, alien form that magic took in Anhau. Now they have settled into the city and have even begun experimenting with the complex techniques of Erga, Jolta and Mans, with little success.
The Anhai wicks, always generous and hospitable, have opened their homes and taverns to the newcomers. The spokes are amazed at the peaceful nature of the Anhai Valley peoples, at their surprisingly sophisticated irrigation systems and their simple, holistic lifestyle. Above all else, spokes have been sharing news of the outside world, surprised at how little the Anhai knew about the current political climate. Meanwhile the spokes are enjoying the hidden paradise of Anhau, spending time in the forests and by the waterfalls, and generally wondering why their ancestors ever left the city. For the displaced spokes, Anhau represents a new home, a new beginning.
Not everyone is overjoyed at this new influx of visitors. The Roek are careful to keep a watchful eye on their nomadic brethren at all times, and this has not escaped the spokes' notice. Every day new wicks arrive, summoned by seer stone or messenger; word travels fast along the wick's travel routes, and the word of Anhau had already reached all the major tribes and networks.
It seems like only a matter of time before Brunnhold and Vienda find out about Anhau. Having learned that Brunnhold still stands, the warlike Roek stand prepared to defend their city, and have already begun fortifications, despite the warnings of the modern wicks that Brunnhold no longer waged war on Anaxi cities - they passed legislation.
